So I decided to start a new Instagram dedicated to my life and work as a medical student and an aspiring medical doctor. I’ll be sharing my journey in my medical career as well as interesting medical facts.

As a 6th year medical student I’m not ashamed to admit that:

1. Even though that I am excited about graduating soon, I am still nervous about it because I will become fully responsible for people’s lives and I cannot give the excuse that, “I am a student.”

2. I have not decided on a specialty yet but I know that I would want a specialty that would give me a good work - life balance where I don’t don’t have to get burnt out from spending long hours in the hospital.

3. I haven’t passed every single exam in medical school; I mean I’ve passed every course/exam but not always on the first try. Especially in preclinical years, I’d come up a few points shy of passing some exams. It sucks having to resit/retake an exam but it doesn’t mean I’m a bad medical student or that l’m not knowledgeable. (That applies for you too friend)

4. I enjoy other things asides medicine. Things like reading, cooking, walking, travelling, playing dress up and just taking care of my overall well being - spiritually, mentally & physically

5. I’ve had to rely on discipline over motivation to make sure I study most of the time. I straight up took my feelings and emotions out of it because it made me struggle with being consistent. I’m using this rule in my general life too

6. I don’t have a long attention span, and I DO NOT like long lectures where I have to sit and listen to someone teach for hours. I’d rather go through the slides and teach myself (and as an international student in Eastern Europe this is what I end up doing anyway lol)

7. I felt/feel stupid 98% of the time. Medicine is vast and there’s so much I don’t know! It used to bother me but now I’m very comfortable appreciating how hard l’ve worked to get to this point while also appreciate how much more I get to learn

8. And most importantly, I AM NOT ASHAMED TO ADMIT THAT MY SUCCESS STORY IN MEDICAL SCHOOL IS TIED TO THE GRACE AND MERCY OF GOD!
