Dressed in my own designs @hagiazolabel, a three-piece outfit I specially designed and made for the pink-themed “Change in Shades” conference, I couldn't be more proud of myself, even as I was selected as one of the three best-dressed people at the event.

One of the reasons I love what I do as a fashion designer is that fashion is an effective tool for boosting people's confidence in themselves. I have met a lot of diverse women, and I can say that women go through a lot, especially with how hormonal changes affect our bodies, self-confidence, and overall quality of life. I am very passionate about women having a positive image of themselves and overall mental health.

So when I first heard about the “Change in Shades” 2026 conference (“A conversation on evolving & the menopause transition”), tagged “Menopause in Colour”, from Aunty Gloria Sowah @gloriasowah, the founder of Living Colour Magazine, who was also a compere for the event, I knew that I had to be there.

A great time was had!

Congratulations to Dr. Kemi Adu @dr_kemiadu, the founder of Change in Shades and a GP who specialises in integrative women's health, for pulling together such an erudite team of high-achievers, great women making waves in their fields!

She gave a keynote speech on “Menopause in Colour” and a lesson that will not leave me is that “Being in mid-life is not the end of life. It's just a change of season”

Councillor Pye Augustine @pyeaugustineipswich, the Ipswich Councillor and Community Advocate, gave us a very powerful civic welcome, as she briefly shared her journey into community service and politics.

Chiza Westcarr @chizawestcarr_, a menopause coach, clinical skin & nutrition expert, and founder of @thrivingthroughmenopausebycw (by the way, her product “Deflame” @flora_biome tastes and feels so good! … check it out), gave us a cultural perspective about menopause and how different bodies come with different burdens. Truly enlightening.

Mrs Eky Akporhonor @juneschild, the award-winning interior designer and owner of @door42_interiors, who also hosted at the event … oh my God! (Cont'd in comment section)

I’ve had the pleasure of working closely with @hagiazolabel to custom-design my departure and arrival looks for MGI 2026, blending modern fashion with bold African prints, culture and design.

We’ve had so much fun bringing these looks to life, experimenting with different ideas and creating pieces that are truly a reflection of who I am and where I come from.

Hagiazo Label @hagiazolabel in collaboration with Umoja Runway by @adhiscolephotography, was invited to the parade at the India Day Fair 2026, held at the Roma Street Parkland @romastreetparkland ,celebrating India's 79th Independence and the beginning of the 80th Independence Day celebration.
