Today’s haul from the garden, some rainbow chard, kale, two courgettes, and some lemon curd thyme, became pork cutlets with cider-braised veg, mash, and courgettes. Very tasty 😋 #HomeGrown #HomeCooked by @mdbuk

I took the netting off and pruned my brassica bed. I had to do it at dusk whilst the cabbage white butterflies weren’t surrounding it. It’s all quite huge! Loads of kale and 3 massive purple sprouting broccoli plants that will hopefully be ready to harvest in the spring. For now I harvested some kale and salad leaves then put the netting back on. See my full harvest in the third photo: including a courgette, some garlic chives, and some tarragon. Tomorrow I’ll harvest the cabbages. #Brassicas #HomeGrown taken in Cosham, Portsmouth, United Kingdom by @mdbuk

Apparently in Portsmouth today there were some muppets protesting foreigners or some nonsense. I wouldn’t know, I was far too busy enjoying the kite festival #KiteFestival #Portsmouth #StopDivision taken in Southsea Common by @mdbuk

Another great year at @campwildfire even if the rain was a regular feature! Mushroom growing, tree climbing, African harmony singing, archery, and a botanical walk for me during the day and great musical acts including Arxx and DJ Jazzy Jeff in the evenings, with a drone show to close the weekend last night. Next year can’t come soon enough! taken in Camp Wildfire by @mdbuk

First corn cob of the year. Maybe a little small; perhaps could’ve done with another week. Tasty though. See also: courgette from the garden #HomeGrown #CornOnTheCob taken in Cosham, Portsmouth, United Kingdom by @mdbuk

The first bit of rain in 6 weeks and that’s the day my sunflower decides to open! It is over 6ft tall though, so that’s clearly where the energy’s been going 🌻 #Sunflower #Garden taken in Cosham, Portsmouth, United Kingdom by @mdbuk

The first of my cucamelons. I grew this plant from seed and didn’t know what to expect. I’ve never even eaten one. They’re so cute though. Apparently they taste somewhere between a cucumber and a watermelon. #Cucamelon #HomeGrown taken in Cosham, Portsmouth, United Kingdom by @mdbuk
