We have to close unexpectedly today (Wednesday June 24) and tomorrow at our Firefly Location in Bar Harbor. (Portland will remain open as usual.)

We had to close today as we didn't have enough stock to get through the day. We make our product fresh every day of the week, so this obviously puts us in a precarious position at times.

This is not something we anticipated - but sometimes the stars align perfectly or imperfectly in this case. Our batch freezer (the machine we use to churn ice cream) broke down, and while we were able to fix it, it put us behind by several days while we waited for the fix.

It pains us to be closed, but in order to get back on track we made the difficult decision to close for these two days.

As always - we appreciate our customers, so we are very sorry for any inconvenience this may cause! by @mdiicecream

Sundays are for hiking and we had a great day today Huguenot and Champlain, MDI Ice Cream, Great Head and then opening day at Sweet Retreats — next Sunday we will do Great Wass Island Preserve in Beals. taken in Downeast Maine by @mdiicecream

MDIIC has a new location in Hakuba, Nagano at The Gakusui Hostel! (https://gakusui-hakuba.com/) We'll be carrying ice cream, sorbets and vegan selections per usual, but we've also added craft coffee to the menu. New Vegan Flavors: 1. Vegan Biscoff, made with an oat base and biscoff cookie butter. 2. Vegan Nutella, made with an oat base and a chocolate hazelnut spread. 3. Vegan Chocolate Cherry Chunk with a Fudge Ripple, made with pea protein as the base! Since these are new flavors, we tend not to make a lot of them at first so they will be limited for now.
