DNA results as a Mexican is wild, a reminder of what we already know but don’t always talk about:
Mexicans are mixed some Mexicans are mostly Indigenous, some mostly European, some Afro-Mexican, some Asian-Mexican, and some a mix of all of the above.
We’re this beautiful blend of Indigenous roots and European colonization, and for me, seeing those percentages made me wonder about the people behind them.
I wish I knew more about my Indigenous ancestors..their language, their traditions, their lives before colonization.
Our history is literally in our blood, and even if the records were lost or erased, it’s still a part of who we are.✨⏳🧬

I’ve been diving deep into Maya Angelou’s autobiographies, and I’m currently on The Heart of a Woman. So far, I’ve read I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings, Gather Together in My Name, Singin’ and Swingin’ and Gettin’ Merry Like Christmas..and I still have All God’s Children Need Traveling Shoes and A Song Flung Up to Heaven left to go. 📚✨

One of the things I love most is that Maya was raised right here in Arkansas. Her words are filled with wisdom, resilience, and fire she was truly a badass woman who carried her story with strength and grace.

These books are a must-read, especially for anyone who’s ever had to rise above challenges. I’m really enjoying this journey through her life, and I can’t recommend her work enough! by @mdjmm3

🌟 Thankful Thursday 🌟

Today I’m taking a moment to pause and reflect on the little (and big) blessings in my life. 🙏🏼

I’m thankful for the productive mornings, early workouts, Summertime ☀️, beach days, food, workdays, family, the hugs that catch me off guard, my kids hugs and kisses, slow afternoons, the people cheering me on—even when they don’t say a word. I’m thankful for growth, grace, and the chance to keep showing up.

And I’m alsooooo thankful for YOU—whether you’re part of my family, my wellness journey, or just someone who sends love and light my way.

Each one was necessary.
Each one taught me something.
