#medalmonday always good to come home and even better getting to run @pghmarathon. It was a day for the books! I was a bit worried with the hills but I guess they are just engraved in my soul 😂. Barcelona: where we casually “strolled” (not lost) through the Gothic Quarter, stood in awe at Sagrada Família and Park Güell, and pretended we fully understood Picasso at Museu Picasso. Ironman Florida was a race @joepiscio and I signed up nearly 1 year ago so the anticipation was real! A few speed bumps along the way made me question whether I was going to make it to the start line. Crashing the bike (s/o @the.bikery for putting it back together) and dealing with a concussion in July were at the top of that list. But as things healed, I stuck to the plan and showed up healthy. Anyone who does these things knows that getting to the starting line healthy is half the battle. @rise_sportschiropractic kept me healthy and address any concerns I had during the prep with a plan. Huge shout out to @coach_o_1of1 for keeping me right on the strength side of things and keeping me company on those early morning runs when the FL heat was at full force. The biggest shout out goes to @michelle.nagy25 as always. She volunteered the entire race at different segments which is equally as exhausting. She also got @joepiscio and I a pizza post race when we were both incapacitated 😂. Not to mention, putting up with the training and long brick workouts every weekend. Thanks for being my #1 fan 😘! What’s next ? Not sure but I am taking a break from full Ironman for at least a year, that’s for sure ! #medalmonday wrapping up Ironman 70.3 Augusta weekend. Great weekend full of southern hospitality, PR race, Buc-ee’s and great company with @coach_o_1of1 … Race recap: overall nice tuneup race for IMFL. No, I didn’t learn how to swim lol… down river swim was a nice change of pace and started the day off right!
The bike had several nice rolling hills but nothing too difficult over 56 miles. Legs still had some juice left on the run allowing for a strong finish on a mostly flat course. Couldn’t have done it without @coach_o_1of1 who drove the 7.5 hours home right after the race and also introduced me to @bucees on the way home 🤯. Also @michelle.nagy25 for keeping me carb loaded with some great sourdough and everyday support! See you in 4 weeks at IMFL, @joepiscio ! taken in Augusta, Georgia by @mdn217

Crashed my bike yesterday. I wasn’t going to post anything about this and just suffer in silence but here goes …..Hit a sink hole going 21mph in the aero bars … it sent me over the aero bars onto my head and sliding about 15 feet across the road into the other lane. My first thought was “Get the F up” so I don’t get hit by a car. So I gathered myself, the pieces of my bike, my sunglasses and hobbled to the side of the road. Before I realized what happened an elderly lady driving her car pulled up and asked if I was ok. She was behind me and must have seen it happen. Of course I said, “yes I’m fine” as I checked to make sure my phone was in my pocket to call @michelle.nagy25 . To make a long story short, I will be fine. I will be back. Always wear your helmet.
