Colorful Eclectic is all about creating a home that feels collected, creative, and unmistakably you.

Rather than sticking to one design era, this style mixes mid-century modern influences, vintage finds, colorful artwork, natural materials, and meaningful décor to create a space that’s full of personality.

Here’s what to look for:

✓ Warm neutral base – Keep walls and larger furniture light and timeless so colorful accents can take center stage.

✓ Colorful accents – Add personality through artwork, pillows, rugs, lighting, tile, and ceramics instead of relying on bold wall colors.

✓ Mix old + new pieces – Blend vintage treasures, thrifted finds, and modern furniture for a home that feels curated over time.

✓ Playful art + décor – Gallery walls, sculptural lamps, quirky accessories, and handmade pieces bring life and character to your space.

✓ Layer pattern + texture – Don’t be afraid to combine checks, stripes, florals, velvet, woven materials, and natural wood.

✓ Plants + personal touches – Books, travel finds, family heirlooms, and greenery make your home feel authentic instead of perfectly styled.

One thing you’ll notice in many Colorful Eclectic homes is the influence of mid-century modern design—think warm walnut furniture, clean lines, globe lighting, and iconic silhouettes. Those timeless pieces create the perfect foundation for layering color and personality.

✨ The goal isn’t to make everything match. It’s to create a home that tells your story.

Which design style should I break down next?

I think I finally figured out why I’m always drawn to the same colors.

Dusty pinks, faded peach, warm creamy whites, muted blues and soft, earthy greens.

They remind me of summer sunsets.

And summer has always held a lot of nostalgia for me—the warmth, slower evenings, being outside, that golden-pink light at the end of the day.

It made me realize that sometimes finding your design style has less to do with choosing between “organic modern” or “traditional”… and more to do with paying attention to what already makes you feel something.

Try looking outside of interiors for a minute.

What seasons do you love? What places feel like home? What photos do you save just because you love the feeling of them?

There might be a color palette hiding there. 🤍

Save this for the next time you feel completely stuck on your home’s style.

Modern Traditional is all about creating a home that feels timeless, welcoming, and collected. It blends classic design elements with fresh, updated touches so your space feels elegant without feeling overly formal.

Here's what to look for:

✓ Warm neutral base – Think creamy whites, taupes, soft greiges, and warm paint colors.

✓ Classic furniture silhouettes – Rolled arms, curved lines, turned legs, and timeless shapes that never go out of style.

✓ Warm wood tones – Rich wood furniture brings warmth, depth, and character to the room.

✓ Brass + marble accents – A few refined finishes add sophistication without overpowering the space.

✓ Subtle pattern + texture – Incorporate stripes, checks, florals, linen, wool, and other timeless textiles to create depth.

✓ Collected décor – Mix vintage finds, meaningful pieces, books, artwork, and heirlooms to create a home that feels curated over time instead of perfectly matched.

One of the biggest myths about decorating on a budget is that you need to jump on every “good deal.”

The truth? The homes that feel the most curated usually aren’t filled with random bargains—they’re filled with pieces that were chosen intentionally, even if they were secondhand.

Before I open Facebook Marketplace, I already know:
✔️ My style
✔️ My color palette
✔️ My wishlist
✔️ Where the piece will go

That simple shift has saved me money and helped me create a home I truly love.

What’s the best Marketplace find you’ve ever scored?

People always ask me how I can walk into a room and immediately know what feels “off.”

The truth is, I’m not looking for expensive furniture or the latest trends.

I’m looking for a few simple things that shape how a room feels.

✔️ Where do my eyes naturally go?
✔️ Is there enough contrast?
✔️ Is everything the right scale?
✔️ Does the room feel warm and inviting?
✔️ Does it reflect the people who live there?

The good news? None of these require a full renovation.

Often, a few intentional changes can completely transform how your home feels.

Which one do you think has the biggest impact? I’d love to hear your guess in the comments.

If you’re drawn to minimal homes that still maintain warmth, Japandi might be for you..

Japandi is a beautiful mix of minimalism and scandinavian style but it only works when you layer it the right way.

It’s not just about having less…
it’s about choosing the right things in the right order.

Here’s how to build it:

Start with a warm neutral base
Think soft, creamy tones—not stark white.

Layer in light wood + natural materials
This brings warmth and keeps the space from feeling flat.

Choose low, simple furniture
Clean lines, but soft and livable.

Keep contrast minimal
Japandi spaces feel calm because nothing is too harsh or heavy.

Add texture (this is key!)
Linen, woven materials, and subtle variation make the space feel lived in.

Finish with intentional decor
Less—but better.

When you follow this order, your space starts to feel calm, balanced, and cohesive—without overthinking every decision.

We all love a good before & after.

But if we’re honest, most of us are living in the in-between.

The half-finished rooms.
The mix of old and new.
The spaces that don’t quite feel “done” yet.

And somewhere along the way, we started believing that meant we were doing it wrong.

But the truth is—
you don’t need more inspiration.

You need clarity.

Because when you don’t fully understand:
– your style
– your space
– how your home actually functions

…it’s really easy to keep buying things that don’t quite work.

And that’s where the overwhelm comes from.

Designing a home you love doesn’t happen overnight.
It happens in layers, over time, with intention.

✨ Start with a clear direction
✨ Invest in the pieces that matter most
✨ Let the rest come together slowly

That’s how you create a home that actually feels like yours.

A modern organic with a touch of traditional living room that makes you want to exhale 🌿

I love how this room feels pulled together but not fussy—soft textures, warm wood, a little bit of pattern, and those green chairs that make everything feel grounded. It’s cozy, but still elevated. Real life, but still beautiful.

This is your reminder that your home doesn’t have to be perfect to feel good. Sometimes it’s just about layering the right pieces and creating a space that lets you breathe again 🤍

Save this for future living room inspo!

If you’ve been wanting this kind of cohesive, pulled-together feel but don’t know where to start… I create custom moodboards just like this for your actual space + style 🫶🏼 by @meadow.designco

My photo ledge is in serious need of a refresh 😅

I’m planning to paint the ledge white and let the art stand out a little more on its own. Lately I’ve been craving more color—still within my home palette—but with a bit more warmth layered in.

And here’s the thing… I used to feel like once I picked a “color palette,” I had to stick to it perfectly. But real homes (especially with kids) don’t stay static. Mine definitely doesn’t.

Now I think of it more like a foundation.
You can build on it, shift it with the seasons, or just change it when you’re craving something new—and it can still feel cohesive.

Also… this is why I LOVE photo ledges.

Low commitment, easy to swap, and perfect if you’re someone who gets design decision paralysis but still wants your home to feel fresh and you.

If you love the organic modern look but can’t quite make it come together in your own home… this is for you.

Step 1: Start with a warm neutral base
Walls, rug, and large furniture should live in creams, warm whites, and soft beiges. This creates the calm foundation everything else builds on.

Step 2: Add wood + natural materials
Think oak, walnut, rattan, stone, and clay. This is what brings the “organic” into the space and keeps it from feeling flat.

Step 3: Choose simple, soft furniture
Clean lines + soft curves. Avoid anything too bulky or overly detailed—this is where modern meets comfort.

Step 4: Add contrast
A few black or darker accents (lighting, frames, hardware) help ground the space and give it depth.

Step 5: Layer in texture (this is the missing piece for most people)
Linen, woven materials, ceramics, wood tones—this is what makes the room feel warm and lived in.

Step 6: Finish with decor
Keep it minimal and intentional. Decor should never be the starting point.

When you build your space in this order, it actually starts to feel like the style you’re going for—not a mix of random pieces.

Save this so you can come back to it when you’re styling your space 🌿

This bedroom has gone through so many transitions. A shared boy girl room, three kids in one room, and now it’s just hers. I wanted it to feel magical, nostalgic, and whimsical. 💕🌻 The kind of room you lose track of time playing dolls and reading books in 🥹
