July reminded me that healing is definitely not linear. That grief can be delayed, that it can wait months and years and then show up uninvited on an ordinary, unexpected day, wearing masks that require you to have to peel them back, one by one, to find the true meaning of your unraveling.

April, May, and much of June gave me better days than I’d had in a long time and it was such a beautiful climb. Then later June turned into July and handed me back something I thought I’d already survived: a flood of grief that extended too many years to reconcile in my brain.

The lows went as deep as the highs went high, causing me to feel so unsteady, not recognizable again some days.

This month’s grief lesson was about actively digging deep and facing every underlying trigger that had developed over the years, surrendering myself fully to God’s sovereign plan, realizing I can’t do this on my own, standing on the lie of being unloveable. Which I most definitely do not believe. ☺️

But the only way out of these emotions is through. And so I battled. Constant prayer, self-discovery, 171 pages of therapeutic writing, and moving through the grief. Today, July is ending and I am experiencing my joy fully retuning—but it’s the not joy that I’m happy about. It’s about what the last five weeks have taught me. How I’ve grown.

This journey is not done. I know that the darkness won’t always stay away, but I am determined to come out of every fire stronger than I was before. ♥️

This Father’s Day hits different.

A beautiful life this man has given and as age gracefully takes over, each moment spent together attaches to the heart just a tad bit deeper.
