Hasret is a concept from Ottoman poetry that expresses yearning, or pensive longing. It references a feeling of disquiet experienced by a person as they move towards the west, away from their origins in the east, towards the setting sun. This reinterpreted movement could reference a longing for a time gone by as one shifts towards an uncertain future. There is a splitting between the self of the present and a self of the now-inaccessible past. Our sincere thanks to writer Jenna Marina Lee and @unitedarts_cf for their brilliant feature on our just opened exhibition, a loom, a fence, a wire, a thread the first solo museum exhibition for artist Mär Martinez @meatvoid The press we have gotten for this new exhibition has been wonderful. This incredible new body of work, was produced by Mär on her Fulbright Fellowship in Istanbul, Türkiye. @ahmaitland Tuesday thru Sunday 11 to 4. by @meatvoid
