Foley Street is getting a little extra flavour.

We’re joining @surplussydney for a day of fashion, vintage finds, good food and familiar faces.

As part of Foley Thrift, we’ve rounded up some of our local mates to keep everyone fed while rummaging through the market stalls that will be lined up on Foley Street. Coming hungry is highly encouraged.

Now Brewing - Mecca Coffee, Foley Street.

If you haven’t heard yet, we’ve quietly opened a new little space on Foley Street, Darlinghurst.

Designed alongside @killingmattwoods this project has been more than three years in the making. Cosy, considered and a little hidden away, it’s our new home for coffee in one of Sydney’s most character-filled neighbourhoods.

This film was captured by @jsquared.studios the week before we opened. The plan was to introduce the space with this very piece of content, but word travelled faster than we did. Before we had the chance to say hello, the locals, our neighbours and plenty of curious coffee drinkers had already found us.

Since opening on Monday 20 July, we’ve been genuinely humbled by the response. Seeing so many people embrace this little cave has been something we never expected.

Attention comes and goes, but this isn’t what this project is about. After more than twenty years, we’re still interested in the same things: thoughtful design, carefully sourced coffee, genuine hospitality and becoming part of the neighbourhood.

To everyone who’s already stopped by, thank you.
For those still waiting for their first visit, we’ll have the coffee ready.

And Alex Kumijan, after two decades of shaping our history and friendship, this one is for you 🫶

LEGENDS OF EXCELLENCE - CUP WITH US | 12 Producers. 6 Countries. One Night only.

Monday 28th September, Cup of Excellence judge, Ricky Dyson, joins us at Mecca Coffee Alexandria to co-host a rare cupping of twelve extraordinary coffees before they go to auction.

The 2026 Legends of Excellence brings together twelve producers from six countries who have repeatedly placed at the highest level of Cup of Excellence. Between them, they hold more than 150 finalist placings and over a dozen national first-place wins.

Among them is our long-time producer mate, @benjaminpaz of Honduras. 🇭🇳

Each producer will donate just one 10kg box of their finest lot to raise funds for charities to improve schools, water, housing and health projects in the towns where these coffees grow as well as providing training, scholarships and cupping education for the next generation of the industry.

Twelve producers. Twelve boxes. That’s it.

Before they go under the hammer, we have the opportunity to cup all twelve together. Keen to cup together?

Making new friends over coffee…

It’s a delight when we can take a moment to have coffee and chats with other likeminded curious mates @coffeezzzzzzzz

@richbrooks enjoys pouring with @matt_winton x @timemoreproducts special dripper. And even better, brewing with something special from Honduras. Our annual and limited release of a washed Geisha from our long time mate @benjaminpaz 🇭🇳

Light and floral, it’s got character. Lemongrass and jasmine flavours lingers like a lovely bouquet.

In Good Company. 👭👬

Back in June, we hosted our first In Good Company coffee tasting with our good mates @madeofmanycoffee.

Held over two mornings, we began at our roastery in Alexandria before heading to Brighter Coffee, home of Made of Many, the following day.

Together, we showcased two beautiful Colombian coffees: a Chiroso from Jhoan and Diego Vergara of Finca Las Flores, alongside a delightful Bourbon Aruzi from Javier Quintero, roasted by Made of Many.

Brewing with @timemoreproducts, Richie, Ben, Ching and Junji poured and talked; meeting new and familiar faces. It’s a reminder that coffee is at its best when it brings people together, and something we’re excited to continue growing.

We’ve now roasted the final batch of the Vergara brothers’ Chiroso. Still tasting beautifully of Turkish delight and lavender, it’s a coffee best enjoyed as a pour over.

DOME-US light for @meccacoffee

Many say there is no light in the depths of the cave, prepared to be proven wrong because the sun does shine brightest in Mecca Coffee’s newest Darlinghurst location. @killingmattwoods does it again with a beautiful fit out of deep reds, raw cut stone and stainless accents.

A pleasure to work with my @sangbymabasa fellow regulars Paul and Stacy to bring this dome to life. A blown acrylic sphere and a custom CNC milled ring help hold this recessed dome. Custom RGB neon for all occasions of course. by @meccacoffee
