These women never worked to be photographed.
They worked to survive.
From sunrise to sunset — with their hands, their backs, their silence.
The world never looked at them. But they see everything.
One never tasted squid in her life.
Another had never heard the word “makeup.”
But look at their colors.
Layer over layer, scarf under cap, pattern over pattern — not to follow a trend. To survive one.
What the world calls streetwear today,
they were living before it had a name.
We didn’t come to modernize them.
We came to witness them.
To give a photograph, a story, a piece of clothing
to women who were never handed a microphone.
Because some women deserve to be celebrated
every single day.
