The Odyssey (2026).

First word: Breathtaking. It blows my mind this movie was even created. I have no idea how Christopher Nolan got some of these shots, that’s how insane and epic it was.

I’m gonna try and go no spoiler. For a nearly three hour runtime this film actually had pretty good pacing and kept the plot moving. Both flashbacks to the Trojan horse/invasion scenes were definitely my favorite in the movie. Also after watching the cyclops and Circe scenes, I can say that Nolan will probably direct a horror movie soon, cause wow that was terrifying.

I also want to touch on how this movie reminded me that film isn’t just a visual experience, it can be a physical experience if done correctly. I was literally exhausted at the end of this film. I laughed, I cried, I was in awe, I was surprised, I was hurting, and eventually I felt very fulfilled. I’m not saying every movie should have that full spectacle, but it was pretty cool to see it happen and experience that.

One of the main downsides I had for the movie was that it was absurdly loud. There were moments and scenes where it was honestly so loud and screechy that I had trouble concentrating on what was actually happening. Still loved it, but that took me out of it a little!

Lastly, I thought John Leguizamo was my favorite performance in the film. He absolutely crushes it, along with others in that stacked cast.

Final Score: 8.7/10

Disclosure Day (2026).

Let me just preface that this is not really an alien movie, so don’t go in thinking about that. Aliens are definitely involved, it’s not what the movie is really about.

I thought this whole thing was awesome, one of my favorite I’ve seen this year so far! The acting, especially Emily Blunt, was very well done. I think Emily will be nominated for at least a couple awards for this performance! Also, Josh O’Connor is one of my favorite upcoming actors.

The story itself is based on people stealing government data to release videos and photos of alien activity. I don’t wanna get into too many spoilers but there’s an important theme about the human race banning together.

As Spielberg‘s deepest movie yet, there’s a lot of moments that feel like he’s taking a real step forward in maturity, but still maintains that classic Spielberg fun!

Final Score: 7.4

The Sheep Detectives (2026).

Right now this film is sitting at number three of my 2026 movies ranked list. That doesn’t tell you something great then I don’t know what to tell you.

This was so much fun! I didn’t think I needed a murder mystery with sheep involved, but it might’ve been the one thing that I’ve been missing in life!

On a serious note, this movie is beautiful, heartwarming, and funny! I loved all of the sheep and their silly little personalities, especially moople, Lily, and Sebastian. All the voice actors played their parts perfectly. The humans were fine.

I also didn’t expect this film to have so many emotional moments! There was about three moments where It hit and one where I actually teared up. Yes, I teared up watching a movie about sheep, BUT it’s so much more than just a movie about sheep! Just go watch it. Amazon Prime Video just put it up!

I wish we got more Hugh Jackman in this, he was born to be a shepard named George.

Train Dreams (2025).

There are few films that make you stop and think at multiple points during its runtime. Train Dreams had me sitting in silence after the final scene of the film while the credits ran… just thinking. Thinking about my life.

A story about life. A logger in the early 1900s is going through his life, falling in love, making friends, and all of the harsher parts of life, including loss and aging.

The cinematography was actually show stopping. There were some moments that were just so delightful. You had to just smile because of how beautiful it looks.

If you’re looking for an action movie, this might be the opposite. The story is a slow burn but in doing so, all of the moments feel bigger.

Wake Up Dead Man (2025).

As someone who loves murder mysteries and whodunnit’s, I won’t lie I was a little nervous going into this. I didn’t love Glass Onion (the second movie), contrary to what people say. I decided to go into this movie with an open mind because I remembered how good the first one was, and wow, did Rian Johnson overdeliver.

This is definitely a darkest, emotional, and most layered installment in the series. Everything was so perfectly intertwined with so many twists and turns and never felt like it was ever too much. I have to give credit to Ryan Johnson for this, I really can’t get over how good the plot was.

The use of Catholicism, specifically some Catholic groups that are more corrupt and greedy, was a great way to create a plot for a murder mystery. I haven’t seen it done like this before ever. There were also a moments where it showed the beauty of being Catholic and the good side of things.

Usually in Knives Out films, Daniel Craig takes the cake, but Josh O’Connor absolutely stole every scene he was in. We’re going to be hearing this man’s name for a long time in Hollywood. Including Craig, there were some other standout performances, like Josh Brolin and Glenn Close.

There is one scene where Josh O’Connor’s character is talking on the phone to a woman named Louise, and I seriously think it’s one of the best scenes of the year in any film.

The Fantastic Four (2025).

As someone who grew up reading the comics, I’ve been waiting for a good Fantastic 4 movie for a while. Now this movie isn’t anything special in my opinion, but I did enjoy it a lot! The vibes of the film were awesome, and really made it feel like they were in a different time.

Vanessa Kirby and Joseph Quinn carried the film in my opinion. Their portrays of the Storm siblings were way more comic book, accurate than previous versions and both had just amazing performances.

I thought that Pedro did a fine job as Reed, but I think the writing kind of held him back a little. It wasn’t till the end where we got to fully see him, and the character, at his best. I was upset with how they handled the Things storyline, I wanted to see more with him and Natasha Lyonne’s character, that was really interesting.

I thought they were gonna go a different way at the end of the movie than what they did, I guess that’s my own fault for theorizing!

F1 (2025).

This movie felt like a combination of two of my favorite films ever, Ford vs Ferrari and Top Gun Maverick. Directed by Joseph Kosinski, who also directed Top Gun Maverick, kept a lot of the same style choices, but also made sure to make it feel completely new and fun.

I think Brad Pitt and Javier Bardem both crushed their roles and were definitely my favorite parts of the cast. This movie had its emotional moments, but it really was driven by its incredible racing sequences.

Every time they got on the track, I was completely locked into what was happening. The 2.5 hour long runtime felt like an hour and a half. It didn’t go by fast or slow, it was perfect length in my opinion.

Also having Han Zimmer create the score mixed in with some current songs, was a fun twist which added intensity and variety to the movie!

Superman (2025).

It was a huge risk to revamp the Superman franchise, but I really think James Gunn, knocked it out of the park. I love Henry Cavill but I honestly liked David Corenswets version of the character much more! He is what Superman should be, not all dark and edgy, but a beacon of hope for humanity. He cares about saving people (and animals) more than anything else. Also Nicholas Hoult stole the scene as Lex Luthor almost every time he was on screen.

I really appreciate how they just jumped right into the story instead of doing the whole backstory on how he became Superman… again. Gunn throws a lot of characters at you, but honestly, it was pretty simple to keep up and not be confused on who is who!

The cinematography was awesome and the overall vibe of the film was fun and colorful, which was great. I really do think an encompass everything is superman film should be.

Mission Impossible: The Final Reckoning (2025).

Say what you wanna say about Tom Cruise, but the man knows how to deliver an elite movie going experience you’ll never forget.

As the final chapter in the Mission Impossible franchise, they had to find a way to end things the correct way. Besides some of the plot holes and pacing, this film that everything I wanted: Action, drama, and insane stunts that keep me on the edge of my seat.

The first hour was a lot of information to take in. It felt like they were just filling us in on everything that happened up till now in the mission impossible story, but my goodness the last hour and a half was some of the best action sequences I’ve ever seen. They perfectly ended the franchise with the last monologue.

This movie also comes nowhere close to Mission impossible: Fallout. That’s the best action movie of all time and I’ll die on that hill.

Sinners (2025).

As someone who absolutely hates watching anything that’s remotely scary, the narrative and connection to characters this film brings overshadowed the scary parts. I believe that this could be one of the best films of the year.

Let’s start with the cast. Michael B Jordan had his best performance yet, playing twins which was done so well, that I actually forgot they were played by the same person halfway through the movie. Miles Caton was great in his first acting role ever, this definitely will not be the last we see of him. I was really impressed with Hailee Steinfeld as well, really stepped out of her comfort zone for this, and killed it. Wunmi Mosaku totally deserves an Oscar nom for her role as Annie. She crushed every scene she was in.

The premise of the story, is about two twins who used to be in the military, turned gangster, and their cousin Sammie. Set in 1932 Mississippi, they are trying to open a juke jam place for people to come relax and dance. The whole scary element is that there are vampires involved. That’s all I’m gonna say. It’s awesome.

I loved learning about some of the history behind the blues and how people treat it, especially the scene where they showed the evolution of the music.

I thought the movie itself was great, but the Mid credit scene took it to a whole new level. Please check this out!
