Dr. Rasi Mizori, MBBS (Dist.), MSc. ٱلْحَمْدُ لِلَّٰهِ

This was never meant to be my path. There isn’t a single doctor in my family. I moved to the UK when I was 10 years old. Went to a state school and sixth form. Grew up watching friends lose lives and go to prison. And being the first in my family to go to med school, it always felt like I was chasing a destination that wasn’t designed for people with my background.

Yet here we are.

Medical school has changed me in ways I don’t think I’ll ever be able to fully put into words. From the inhumane hours spent in libraries and hospitals, to the side-quests and travels across the world for conferences and beyond (my favourites were 🇹🇭🇹🇿🇦🇪), these six years have been life-changing. I arrived in London as an 18-year-old boy and I leave at 24 as… a slightly bigger boy (still not a man yet 😂).

To my family, thank you for believing in me long before I believed in myself. Thank you for every sacrifice, every word of encouragement, every dua, and for giving me the opportunity to chase a dream that once felt impossible. To my friends, thank you for making these six years unforgettable. And to every single person who has followed this journey online, whether you’ve been here since day one or joined yesterday, thank you. What started as a way of documenting my life has grown into a community that has supported me through the highs, the lows, the setbacks, and every milestone in between. I’ll never take that for granted.

If there’s one thing I hope these last six years have shown, it’s that your background should NEVER define your destination. Not all of us begin life with the same opportunities, the same networks, or the same doors already open for us. Some people have to knock harder, while others have to build the door themselves. But never mistake a harder starting point for a lower ceiling. You belong in every room you aspire to be in. It all starts with believing in yourself long before anyone else does. Take it from me.

Thank you for allowing me to share this journey with you. I can’t wait to keep taking you along for everything that’s still yet to come.

From the incredible team on this medical deployment to the people we met across Zanzibar and Tanzania, some experiences really do change you. This was one of them.

24 years old today. Wow. Where does time go 🫣

Not to sound like an unc, but over the last few years, the word ‘balance’ has become my favourite word. Balance between all aspects of your life. Work, personal, social, relationships. There has to be balance, and if there isn’t, you WILL burnout. If you don’t believe me, read up on the Four Burner Theory. Live by balance!! 💃

Grateful for another year of life and another year of chasing the dreams! And what a blessing it is to have you guys by my side while I’m doing so.

Things that have happened over the last few months:

1. SMASHED my FINAL ever med school exams!!! 📚
2. Travelled to Morocco with my brothers to celebrate 🇲🇦
3. Started my new rotation (Transition to Foundation Year 1) 🥼
4. Tried a multitude of food/dessert places in London 🍭
5. Went hiking in awful weather in Wales 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿
6. Collaborated with one of my favourite brands 🏋🏼‍♀️
7. Spent a LOT of time in the best hospital in the country (St Thomas’ ftw 🕺)
8. Lived to experience another Ramadan 🤲🏼

So grateful to live such a blessed life. Things can get stressful, but all it takes is a step back to realise that you’re living a life you once dreamed of. Stay blessed my people ♥️

What an insane feeling to finish my final clinical rotation of 2025!! 🏥

Rotated around so many fascinating specialties including Dermatology, Cardiology, Rheumatology, Endocrinology and more. I knew I liked internal medicine a lot before, and these experiences were VERY insightful into what a career in Internal Medicine might look like. Still loving Cardio, but also found Endo super interesting 👀🫀

Now it’s time for the winter lock-in, focusing on upcoming written and OSCE exams in January 🕺🕺🕺 Go time baby
