2026 Day three. Without authorization from Congress the US President bombed the sovereign country of Venezula, took their President (bad dude, dictator, headed to NY to face charges on drug trafficking[?]) and now wants to run Venezula and sell their oil. 🙄 Current gasoline prices in the local area are depicted with a set of gas prices from this past August 2025. This should bring prices down from here, no?…Not first, usually not last. Not breaking but…broken…new(s)tuff)…already. Follow along for more. 😉🇺🇸 by @medlowminus

A road to freedom. A festival ground. The same hill. The Belmont Plateau isn’t just Philly’s favorite escape — for generations of Black Americans, the road up that hill led to freedom, literally. Last weekend, The Roots Picnic brought Jay-Z, Erykah Badu, Brandy and more back to the same ground the Underground Railroad once ran toward. 250 years of history, resilience and Black liberation, all on one Plateau. // 🖊️ Meredith Edlow

2026 Day 270. During the height of a rare n’oreaster hitting Philadelphia, organizers, activists, residents of the city and suburbs came out to demonstrate and march against the closing of @acadnatsci the oldest Natural History Museum in the city, state, country, continent and western hemisphere as developers plan to build on the site that houses the institution. Today was the museum’s last day open. Drexel University has had an offer from the William Penn Foundation to run the museum for a year, Councilman Jeffery Young of the city’s 5th district wants parties to come together and hear the desires of the public. No decision from Drexel U. on the offer from the William Penn Foundation as of yet. September 27, 2026. This fight isn’t over. - Broken news…not first, not breaking…broken, news in the year of our lord, America 250. Follow along for more. by @medlowminus

2026 Day 269. Dinosaur bones, butterflies, bugs, dirt and rocks- elements of childhood memories stored in our imaginations and inside @acadnatsci. Hundreds of people came to the Academy of Natural Sciences Museum, September 26, 2026 to visit and show support for an age old institution in Philadelphia, Pa that may close in the wake of interest by developers to build housing on Benjamin Franklin Pkwy, less than a mile from the Philadelphia Art Museum. Activists demonstrated outside of the museum in show of support of the museum with information, music and make and take crafts for those who came out with their friends and families. The William Penn Foundation recently expressed a desire to give grant money to support the museum for a year. Drexel University owns the museum and has not yet made a decision on whether or not they will take the foundation up on its offer. by @medlowminus

2026 Day 261. Today you can “vote early” in Philadelphia county. I took my Broken News self to City Hall in Philly and voted…and checked out some art at Love Park. In Philadelphia if you have requested and receive a mail-in ballot you can drop it off at City Hall. If you haven’t requested a ballot you can at City Hall, fill it out and drop it off at their satellite location, same day. There are some helpful volunteers in site for the public. Right now is a great time to vote. Check vote.org to see how your state votes. Follow along for more. 🗳️🇺🇸 by @medlowminus

2026 Day 243. I see you mom, Imma try this soup. Lol. Today after some reflection on the last week, the March on Washington back to school issues and the upcoming midterms, I realized two things, one, Ruby Bridges, the Black young girl who was the first Black child to integrate white schools in New Orleans, LA and needed armed protection with her to attend her first day of school, is younger than my parents. Two, my Mom gave me this cookbook she made w/her sorors and I’m so ready to make and eat some of the dishes that brought her and her friends some satisfaction. Les go. 👏🏾🫶🏾🤌🏾 - Broken News. by @medlowminus
