Happy Birthday to my Bob—my high school sweetheart, my husband, my best friend, and the steady heart of our family.

Our story began when we were just 17. You were running across that football field under the Friday night lights, and I was cheering for you from the sidelines. We had no idea then how much life we would build together—or how deeply we would come to love one another.

You went off to Hillsdale, I headed to cosmetology school, and somehow we never let more than two weeks pass without seeing each other. Even then, being apart never felt right. Then, on that windy April morning in 2001, we promised forever—and after 25 years of marriage, I would still choose you and make those same promises all over again.

We started with a tiny house, an acre of land, very little money and more love than we knew what to do with. Together, we built a family and a life I am so proud of. You have been the dad who showed up, coached the games, never missed the important moments, called our girl beautiful and filled our home with your silly made-up songs.

You are the saver to my spender, the homebody to my social side, and the calm, dependable man who has always given our family something steady to stand on. We are opposites in so many ways, yet somehow, it works. It has always worked.

We have now celebrated more birthdays together than apart. We have walked through beautiful seasons and years that tested us, but even in the hardest moments, we still knew we could never imagine this life without each other.

So today, I celebrate you—the boy I fell in love with, the man you became and the husband and father you continue to be. Thank you for calling me “Babe” all these years, for loving me through every version of myself and for building this life beside me.

Happy Birthday, Babe. I was crazy in love with you then, I’m crazy in love with you now, and honey—we’re not done yet.

Love always,

Happy 21st Birthday Dylan,
From the moment I was pregnant with you, I knew you were going to keep me on my toes. I was sick every single day for five months, and somehow that already felt like your way of preparing me for the adventure ahead. Even as a baby, you were constantly moving. If things got quiet for even a minute, it usually meant you were into something you probably shouldn’t have been. But no matter what, you always had that smile — happy, fearless, curious, and ready for whatever came next.
You have always worn your heart on your sleeve, and that is one of the things I admire most about you. You feel deeply, love deeply, and care deeply. Watching you grow up through every stage of life has been one of the greatest gifts of mine.
Some of my favorite memories will always be watching you play sports, especially wrestling. The dedication, determination, and heart you showed out there made me so proud. I loved cheering you on and watching the fire and passion you carried into everything you did.
As you got older, you definitely tested me as a parent in every way imaginable, but through it all, there was never a second that I didn’t love you with my whole heart. Watching you grow into the man you are becoming has been incredible. You are smart, strong, capable, and have come farther than you probably even realize.
I am so proud of how far you’ve come, and I truly believe your 21st year is going to be the best one yet. You have so much life ahead of you, and I cannot wait to see where it takes you.
I love you, Dylan. Love you more,
