💀 The Ferryman

👥 1+ players | ⏱️ 60–90 mins
🎲 Mystery | Deduction | Puzzle Solving
🏷️ @inkandclues

Ink and Clues create fictional criminal investigations for you to solve. Through suspect interviews, photographs and other documents, you piece together the story and figure out whodunnit.

The cases are delivered digitally as PDFs, so you can print and play or use a computer, tablet or phone. The Ferryman centres on the death of a father who was also an unfaithful husband. With a difficulty rating of 3/5, it wasn’t too challenging for me. Not to brag, but I love these types of games, so call me Sherlock! 🕵️

I enjoyed reading the statements and using the clues to rule out potential suspects. Things really came to life when some documents contained clues you could investigate further online. The detailed websites added to the immersion, and solving extra puzzles to access this information was a fun touch.

Overall, I enjoyed solving the case. Given the amount of content and the extra online puzzles, I can see this being good value for money. I did find myself wanting a little more from the deduction side of things, though. I would have loved more of the evidence to lead to further discoveries, as I enjoy having to really piece things together. That said, I had fun working through the mystery!

Thank you to Ink and Clues for sending us a review copy of The Ferryman! I can’t wait to get stuck into the harder case they also sent us, The Girl in the Snow! 🔎

This week’s community-chosen theme for @therainbowdice’s #fivefromtheshelf is taking us back in time, and as history buffs, we couldn’t be happier with this one! 🕰️📚

From ancient settlements to grand Victorian estates, these five games bring the past to our tabletop. Swipe through to travel back in time with us! ➡️🎲

🏺 SKARA BRAE

Around 5,000 years ago, Neolithic communities were building settlements in Orkney, Scotland. Inspired by the prehistoric village of Skara Brae, this game has a special connection for us, as we lived in Orkney for a few years as young children. You’ll gather resources, hunt, farm, craft and furnish your settlement. But watch out for your midden! You’ll want to keep it under control to avoid accumulating too much. 🪨

🏛️ MYTIKAS

In Ancient Greece, myths and legends told of the gods dwelling high on Mount Olympus. In Mytikas, you’ll take on the role of builders, gathering resources and moving them up the mountain to construct cities and temples. The higher you build, the more prestige you can earn, while offerings to the gods unlock special abilities and scoring opportunities, as long as you can hold on to them! ⚡

💀 SKULLS OF SEDLEC

Jumping forward to 16th-century Bohemia, the Black Plague and Hussite Wars contributed to overcrowded burial grounds. Inspired by the history of Sedlec Ossuary, this small card game sees you playing as novice monks, exhuming graves and arranging skulls into a pyramid. The trick is deciding which skulls to collect and how to arrange them, as the right combinations are key to scoring well! 💀

🦋 DARWIN’S JOURNEY

Between 1831 and 1836, Charles Darwin travelled aboard HMS Beagle, making observations that would help shape our understanding of the natural world. In Darwin’s Journey, you follow in his footsteps, sending workers to explore, collect specimens and record discoveries. You’ll also visit the museum to contribute to scientific knowledge, all while working towards your own goals of exploration and discovery. 🔍

I have a real soft spot for games with anthropomorphic animals, and Thief’s Market by PickPocket Games is giving me cutthroat Everdell vibes. 😂

In this game, you’re a group of thieves who’ve just pulled off a heist, but now comes the tricky part… splitting it! Take your pick of the dice in the middle, claim your share of the spoils, or get cheeky and steal someone else’s. Then spend your loot on cards in the market to build up your engine, unlock new abilities and manipulate future dice rolls.

I can already see this one causing a few arguments around the table, especially with 5 players! 😂

Join me as I unbox Thief’s Market and take a closer look at what’s inside.

We all have those games we’re longing to add to our collection — the ones we’ve had our eye on for ages, the tricky-to-find games, and the exciting new releases that have instantly caught our attention.

So we’re turning our Most Wanted list into a little series, sharing the games that we are hoping to add to our shelves and giving you a little insight into the games that catch our eye.

Swipe through to see what’s currently on our list — and why they have made our Most Wanted.

What game is currently at the top of your Most Wanted list? 👀🎲

#boardgames #boardgamecommunity #boardgameaddict #tabletopgames #wishlist

🦖 Dinosaur Island: Rawr ’N Write

2021 | Brian Lewis, David McGregor & Marissa Misura | @pandasaurus_games

Rachael is a huge dinosaur fan, so this was always going to catch her eye! Add in the roll-and-write format and the puzzle of building your park, and this feels like a perfect combination for us.

⚓ Fleet: The Dice Game

2018 | Ben Pinchback & Matt Riddle | @eaglegryphon

We’re big fans of the designers of Three Sisters, so that definitely makes this one even more desirable! Add in dice drafting, roll-and-write gameplay and a heavy boat theme, and it has plenty going for it.

🌿 Enchanted Ivy

2026 | Sarah Joshua | @allplayhq

We both love the idea of having our own copy to play solo, and the gorgeous artwork has definitely drawn us in. The idea of building an inn by placing cards sounds like such a fun puzzle too!

🐦 The Crows of Coppershell Bay

2023 | Paul Stapleton | @bedsitgames

A solo adventure game in a cute little tin, with dungeon crawling and push-your-luck — this looks like such an exciting little game! We can’t wait to add it to our solo collection.

🌲 Forage

2026 | Molly Johnson, Robert Melvin & Shawn Stankewich | @flatoutgames

A roll-and-write about foraging was always going to be a winner for us! We love the look of this one, and the combination of the theme and puzzly gameplay makes it a game we’d really like to try.

🤠 Fliptown

2023 | Steven Aramini | @writestuffgames

A Wild West themed flip-and-write using poker cards — what’s not to like?! The theme and mechanics have definitely cau by @meeple.made

This week’s #fivefromtheshelf theme had us searching our shelves for games with bugs!

Disclaimer: we are pleased to announce that no real bugs were found in our games! 😂

Hosted by @therainbowdice 🥰

Theme chosen by @nyalpha.official 🐝

We soon realised that we don’t have many games with bugs as a main theme, so we’ve chosen five with a little bug connection instead!

Here are our 5 picks:

🌎 EARTH: ANIMAL KINGDOM

Build and grow your own ecosystem, with termites and a Bluebottle Fly joining the wildlife along the way. 🐜

🐝 HONEY BUZZ

Build your hive, forage for nectar and pollen, make honey and grow your busy bee colony into a thriving business. 🐝

🐦 WINGSPAN

Build your own wildlife preserve and attract birds to different habitats, with worms on the menu for some of your feathered friends. 🪱

🧪 QUACKS: THE MEGA BOX

Pull ingredients from your bag and brew your potion without making it explode! With green Garden Spiders among the ingredients, things can get a little creepy. 🕷️

🏝️ FOOD CHAIN ISLAND

A tiny solo puzzle where animals eat their way through the island, with little critters like ants and spiders becoming part of the food chain. 🐜🕷️

Let us know your favourite bug-themed game. We’d love to hear from you! 🐛

One of the perks of being a Zatu Blogger is getting to discover some brilliant games, and I was very lucky to receive a copy of Pinched by Mighty Boards! 🥰

This one sounds right up my street. Plan heists, steal goods, and keep an eye on what everyone else is up to so you can pinch a little something from them.

Pair that with some seriously lovely artwork and I’m sold. I can’t wait to get this one played with Rach! I can already imagine the “oh no, you didn’t!” moments. 😂

Join me as I unbox Pinched and take a closer look at what’s inside.

Ever thought about board game blogging? Why not try your hand at it with Zatu? ✍️

🎃 THREE GAME THURSDAY | GETTING READY FOR SPOOKY SEASON 👻

It’s the 1st October!! 🎃 The spookiest month of the year is here, and we’re kicking things off with a spooky theme for #threegamethursday, hosted by @our_tabletop_home!

This week, we’ve chosen three games from our collection to get us ready 👻👽🎃

And what better time to do it than the start of #boardtober2026!
Last year, Meeple Made was still just a dream, a little vision of what we wanted to create. So, we missed out on last year’s Boardtober, but who knows… we were probably playing a board game somewhere! 🧡

This year, we’re here and ready to join in with as many of @getintogames’ Boardtober daily challenges as possible, starting with getting some spooky games to the table!

So, here are our three picks for getting ready for spooky season… 👀

👻 SIMILO: SPOOKIES

The perfect starter for a night of horror! 🎃 Work together to uncover the secret Spookie, using other spooky characters as clues to narrow down the suspects. But don’t let the cute artwork fool you… creepy clowns, haunted dolls and all sorts of ghoulish characters are waiting to hit your table! 🫣

🔮 MYSTERIUM

There’s a mystery to solve at the manor, and a ghost who needs your help! You have just seven hours (seven rounds) to uncover the truth, with the ghost sending strange visions to guide you. Can you piece together the clues, identify the suspects, locations and objects, and solve the mystery before time runs out? 👻

🏚️ BETRAYAL: AT HOUSE ON THE HILL (3RD EDITION)

You’re a team of fearless explorers investigating an abandoned house… but what starts as an adventure soon takes a sinister turn! As you explore, room by room, strange events unfold and the house becomes more dangerous. Then the haunt begins, and one explorer may turn against the rest. Will you survive what awaits inside? 💀

🎃 Now it’s your turn! 👻 What three games would you choose to get ready for spooky season?

September has been a busy month with work and life, but I, Rachael, managed to squeeze in a few solo games of Three Sisters by @25thcenturygames for September’s #playsolotogether a monthly hashtag hosted by @thesolodice and @boardgamers_aan_de_zaan

I was extremely excited to take part in this, as Three Sisters is one of my all-time favourite roll-and-writes! 🌽
I played my first game in early September and finished with a score of 78 and the title of State Champ. Not too bad, but not my best score.

My second game proved to be my best for the month, with a score of 90 points. That earned me the prestigious title of Internet Famous Blogger! 🤩

My third and final playthrough of Three Sisters saw me finishing with my worst score of the month at 72, so bye-bye Internet Famous Blogger and welcome back to being a State Champ 😂

I would have loved to have been awarded my own TV show, but alas, I never quite made the top! 📺

Join us as we guide you through how to set up and play Piña Coladice by @iellogames in less than 2 minutes. 🍹🎲

It’s quick to learn, but there’s still plenty to think about! Roll the five dice up to three times, keeping the ones you need as you try to match one of the combinations on the coasters. Do you stick with what you’ve rolled, or take another chance and roll again? 👀

Once you’ve got your combination, choose where to place your cocktail token. Where you put them is key, as you’re looking to build your score while getting in the way of the other players. Get four of your cocktail tokens in a row and you’ve made a Piña Coladice, winning the game instantly!

We love how it takes the familiar Yahtzee-style dice rolling and gives it a vibrant cocktail twist, with some added tactical placement. 🍹 The Happy Hour variant mixes things up when you’re ready.

Hope you enjoy and what’s your favourite cocktail?

@therainbowdice, the wonderful creators of #fivefromtheshelf, have also chosen this week’s theme, which is Co-op Games!! 🤝

Co-op games get the whole group working together towards a common goal, and leaning into each other’s strengths can be the key to a successful game.

🃏 The Gang – A co-operative version of Texas Hold’em. Time to pull off a series of bank heists with nothing but your friends, poker hands, and chips as you try to predict how everyone’s hands will rank.

🌊 The Crew: Mission Deep Sea – Dive into the deep with your fellow teammates and complete missions in this co-operative trick-taking game. With limited communication, you will need to work together to find the lost continent of Mu.

🌹 Paint the Roses – A co-operative deduction game set in the world of Alice in Wonderland. Work together as the Queen of Hearts’ Royal Gardeners to complete her garden according to her ever-changing whims. Or it will be “Off with your heads!”

🧠 The Mind – No talking. No signalling. Discard cards in ascending order using intuition and the hope that you and your team are of one mind.

🦠 Pandemic: Iberia – Work together to research four diseases spreading across 19th-century Spain and Portugal before things get out of control and you run out of time.

Which co-op game would you add to our five? 🤝

Lost Ruins of Arnak was one of my first ever big board game purchases, and it’s still one of our favourite games. But with every new expansion, getting it to the table became harder and harder. So many pieces, cards and boards to keep track of!

For me, the Adventure Chest was a must. The game wasn’t getting played as much because setup had become such a barrier. I needed everything in one place!

Yes, the box is BIG, but it has a place for everything and makes Arnak so much easier to pick up and play. Everything is ready to go, and I can finally see exactly where everything is.

I’ve been desperate to try the campaign mode from The Missing Expedition, and now I feel like I can actually get stuck in. The chest also comes with the Twisted Paths expansion, so there’s even more to discover. I haven’t tried the new boards and tablets yet, but I can’t wait!

And of course, I had to add the coin and compass upgrades because LOOK AT THEM. 😍

I also love the design. The artwork and all those little details make it feel like a proper Arnak treasure chest rather than just a storage box.

There’s even room for future additions, which is probably a good thing! As I have my eye on Surprise Shipment 👀. Arnak has so much replayability, and every time I open the box there’s something new to explore.

It’s funny how you can love a game, but bad organisation can still discourage you from playing it.

Have you ever had to organise a game to make sure it actually gets played? Even one that’s a family favourite?
