Tabletop game reviews coming to you from the South West 🇬🇧 🎲 (with the occasional cat appearance 🐱 )

POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Thought this was a good time to re-introduce myself to you all! Hi! I’m Becky! And I love board games and all things geeky!

Most of my time is spent either playing games, reading, watching Star Wars or finding somewhere pretty to walk on Dartmoor.

The name ‘Meeplesforme’ was actually made during a game of Terror in Meeple City (or Rampage as it’s now known). Inspired by ‘Peaches’ by The Presidents of the United Stares of America, 🎶‘millions of meeples, meeples for me’ 🎶 came out as my monster was chowing down and that was that!

This community of people has always been so welcoming and friendly, it’s lovely to connect with people from all walks of life!

So say hi if you like and we can chat all things games 👋 😊

Let’s review Flip Pick Towers by @ospreygames

A game where you take on the role of Magical Castle Building Architects trying to win a contract from the Royal Family!

Each card will have a feature for players to draw onto their castle sheet. These include floors, bridges, roofs, royalty and dragons! There are placements rules for each of these that players must abide by!

Each of the Royal Family will have unique point bonuses, there are plenty to choose from in the box and these can make all the difference when it comes to end of round scoring!

Decorations include Windows, bags of gold and even beanstalks! All will get you extra points at the end!

You can also gain creatures that grant you helpful bonuses when drawing your chosen card.

Tally up your scores over the two round to get your final totals!!

Honestly this game was a lot of fun. I don’t have a lot of experience with Roll and Writes (or Flip and Write in this case) so maybe I’m just fairly new to the concept but I really did enjoy this.

The game is themed really well, so simple in its design yet super effective. If I were introducing someone to this game mechanic, this game is where I would start!

🟣 Hey there Meeples! This weekend we got to play Hot Streak by @cmykgames

This hilarious party game makes a great icebreaker for any games night and is so simple to play. Players place bets on which runner they think will win the race based on a pre-made race deck. However you can adjust your chances by adding in a card to affect the race in your favour!

Once the racers are off it’s all in the cards as they sprint, fall over, turn around or even run off the track itself!

This was such a fun game to play with a big group of people, and everyone got really into the spirit or the game. It was great to see people getting so heavily invested in their mascot!

🟣 Hey there Meeples! Here’s some board games I think are either Overhyped, Underhyped or Appropriately Hyped 🙈🙈

Don’t get me wrong, none of these games are bad…I just didn’t get the ‘wow’ factor!

What do you think? Am I way off?

🟣 Hey there Meeples! If you enjoy some of these games, take a look at some of these other titles!

Some are similar in mechanics, others for the heavy theming and some are just for the vibe!

🟣 Hey there Meeples! It’s #firstimpressionsfriday🎲 and this week I took a look at Bunny Kingdom Town by @iellogames (Swipe to see a cameo from Daisy 🐱)

This is a 2 player tile placement, area control game where each turn you will be trying to connect your buildings to gather the most influence.

On your turn, you will choose a new building tile and, if you would like to, place it on the board on one of the available spaces. The plot cards at the side of the board dictate which areas are available to build on so you must think strategically to build with the most influence whilst managing the resources you have to spare!

Different types of buildings and their prestige determines how many points they get you when you calculate the influence of your neighbourhood, so place them wisely! The player with the most influence after 4 rounds is the winner!

This was a really fun game, I love the theming and it is deceptively strategic. I particularly enjoyed the puzzle of only having certain areas of the board available to build on during your turns - it forces you to think ahead. A great 2 player game!

What did you think of Bunny Kingdom Town? 🐰
