A DJ, radio presenter and event host, @meeramixes’ musical life is rich, and most recently, she’s been reconnecting with the records from her early days performing through a series of Instagram Reels that introduced me to her work.

We caught up to talk record collecting, the magic of vinyl, and how one track can hold decades of memories.

✨Tell us a little bit about yourself:

I’m Meera, a London based DJ, radio presenter, broadcaster, and event host. I’m also a mum (my kids are 11 and 14). I’m an ex BBC radio producer, turned teacher, and now I’m back in music and radio again, with a bit of teaching and creative side hustling. I also love creating art – painting, and music production – if I can ever find the time!

4 shows down, 2 to go… 🤍

@classic_ibiza so far… such a treat to perform in the most breathtaking settings to 1000s of people. 6 dates, 5 stunning stately homes across England. Iconic live music, incredible production and a really brilliant atmosphere ✨

It’s been an honour and delight to set the tone and get things going with my solo sets and also to perform with the @urbansoulorchestra chill out ensemble before the full 45 piece orchestra, who I’m never not blown away by 🤩

Experiencing the show as the sun sets and the lights kick in is really something else. I brought my kids to the last one and they loved it!

Receiving these, mostly from people I didn’t know, was just unreal and kinda life affirming 🤯🫠

The Ring @beat_herder: Never felt so at home. The North has always had a chunk of my heart and soul. This is one special festival and a bit of me in every way, so it’s safe to say this has firmly cemented itself as one of my favourite sets to date.

Huge love to @utahsaints for the invite to shell it on this magical stage, and to the fab team for making me feel so welcome.

Same breathtaking impact over 20 years on… this one truly is a work of art.

Melancholic yet euphoric - this just builds and builds and takes you somewhere else entirely. Insane track.

And Yep. Another gem I forgot I had. Still surprising myself on a daily basis at records I went for all that time ago, that have more than stood the test of time 🤩

Truly a timeless bomb this one - absolute perfection of a track.

I wasn’t set on what I was going to start with but this just worked so well with the last track of the DJ before me. Love that uplifting build and that banging drop with that iconic bassline!

What are your favourite set openers?

This is a special one - it’s one of the first records I ever bought and the first of my collection I decided to share with you 🥰

(I’m obviously playing it via usb here but the outcome is very much the same!)

Lovebox, you were DREAMY 💖

Time of my life, honestly. Sunshine & joyful vibes as ever at Dreamland and a festi I have always loved - utter perfection. Serious honour to play that main stage just ahead of the mighty Soul II Soul & Scissor Sisters too

We went on a journey from disco to French touch to speedy g and rave with some cheeky edits thrown in. What a buzz watching people fill the space and be vibing it out in the full sun with me by the end of the set. Beautiful crowd
