Lover and teacher of rueda and casino dance (Cuban salsa), spreading my passion as Rueda Alegría 😍💃🏻🕺🎶

POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

I'm often in the strange position of having too many leaders in my rueda classes 😬

As an experienced follower I know why: I've been in plenty of ruedas where the caller is keeping in fast and complicated for the leaders and all the followers do is dileque no (and get dizzy). I actually started this class by calling one of those ruedas on purpose: dame, dame dos, una pa'arriba, y tu sabes... The leaders were challenged, the followers were bored 🥱

I started wondering whether there was another way.
🤔 There are various modes within rueda where leaders and followers are effectively doing the same thing, but on opposite timings, or facing different directions. What if I linked these modes and used calls which sit within the modes: Equal responsibility, equal fun 🤩

The moves and modes themselves are common, but uniting them gives the rueda a very different feel! I was so impressed with the followers who had never heard of active following before Rueda Vacation, and rose to the challenge amazingly 💪

When you're hanging out with a group of friends and you have an idea you want to test... They had no idea what they were signing up for 🤣

I was set a challenge by Klas to change between a regular rueda and a ghost rueda. Of course my "regular" rueda was a switch rueda! So we danced with Espantos: Whether this was ghosts or a terror for being in the role, who knows 🤷🏻‍♀️👻 But it caused a lot of laughter 😂

Reloj was a small part of a longer move that tickled my brain at RuedX UK 2025 💡

Why not turn this constant motion into a flowing, breathing structure to dance rueda in?

Since then I've shared and experimented with it at a rueda exchange in Graz in September.

Now Reloj breathes, flows and flips in many ways and RuedX Scandinavia was ready for a small taste of what a constantly ticking clock can do to a rueda 🕘🕙🕚

You can watch the full video on the Rueda Alegría YouTube channel here: https://youtu.be/Gyq-DSdScUA?si=U1PtPD7O3SnC8eN0

Post-Globetrotters airport rueda in Toulouse: Ignoring our flight being announced, ignoring sleep deprivation and passing the call. But it was great fun 😁

Whilst on Rueda Vacation in North Macedonia I had the opportunity to film Reloj from the air after teaching it to the group 🤩

Here in all its glory is a ticking and breathing reloj rueda 💗🕙

Thank you so much to everyone who volunteered to come out and dance in the heat making this a reality 🥰

Just a Few weeks before the @ruedacongress i was offered this really big opportunity to share something at the exchange workshop - thank you Ethan🩷

I got much support from my local community that just showed up saying yes to all my crazy ideas, no questions asked 🙏 Being able to gather 15 friends was the easy part, the limited time of 15 min ! Was the tricky part. How do you choose, when you are just overflowing with new creative ideas all the time?

Thank you @katachipa , Ricard Gontang and @orgadish for the input and pep talks the days before ❤️ and @coach11mike @susan.payne.771 and @dorthepalle for the gentle push 🫶

Some of my favourite teachers even came to support me in the exchange @high_five_salsa 🥰, @elisabeth.hedman1 , @matiasloyttyniemi and @tanja_siebert_berlin. And my needy twins @buytheshoesordiedancing and @meg.cee.

I was do happy and overwhelmed and focused ( 15 min, Tina!) that i forgot to do a video! 🤯 so I made this instead 🤣🤣🤣

Some friendships just have good follow-through 😆

I genuinely love when dance friends come to visit, and having @meg.cee here was such a treat.

Neither of us feels particularly committed to just one role. Girls like to keep their options open.

Passing the lead back and forth is still one of my favourite ways to play, connect, and make a dance our own.

Next stop: @ruedacongress 2026 in Tromsø. ❤️
