Hey there 👋🏼 there’s a few more of you around here recently so I thought I’d do a quick little post to introduce myself! If we’ve not met before, hi, I’m Megan! This is my little creative space and here’s a little about me and what I share around here: ✍🏼 I’m a writer. At the start of this year I finished the first book in my NA fantasy series, which I started in Nov 2020 (what a time). I’m currently outlining and writing book 2 and I’ll have some more to share about this series in the new year! ✨ I also share words of affirmation as a way of keeping my writing craft alive while also encouraging YOU. Every now and then I open up my stories to submissions of words/phrases and I write personalised affirmations and poems based on these. Make sure you’re following to join in next time! 📚 I’m a big reader and I love to share my current & favourite reads. One of my greatest joys is getting lost in a story. You can find me on Goodreads & StoryGraph. 💻 I am a high school English teacher & I creator Canva templates for teachers searching for aesthetic and functional resources. The link to my templates can be found in the link in my bio and most of them are free! If you want to know when I have more news to share about my book or you want to be the first to know when my Canva templates go live, sign up to my newsletter (link in my bio) and I’ll send you a little note 💌 I’m currently travelling with my husband in Europe, so you’ll be getting extra book shop, beautiful architecture and landscape content over the coming weeks ✌🏼 x by @megan__gilbert
Which song do you think I’m talking about? 👀💬 (hint: it’s not The 1) Now, when I say it made me feel like my heart was being ripped from my chest, I mean that in the best way possible 😂 Hopefully I’m not alone in knowing that feeling. Are you in the crossover of this Venn diagram? Sound off in the comments, fantasy-loving Swifties 🫡 📚 Pre-orders for signed editions of ‘Princess of Dawn’ are still going strong! If you haven’t got your copy yet and would like to pre-order it (and receive early access to the Spotify playlist after the campaign), head to the link in my bio! ✨ 🏷️ #newadultfantasy #bookrecommendations #newbooks #selfpublish #selfpublishedauthor #taylorswift #folklore #bookplaylist #taylornation #taylorswiftlyrics #fantasyreader by @megan__gilbert

Over the last few weeks I’ve been thinking about the importance of positive female friendships in fiction. This came after I made a social media post and struggled to find visual representations of such friendships (specifically from recognisable TV shows and film). So, I thought I’d put those thoughts down and share my reflections with you. Have a swipe the read a portion of the article that is now on my Substack! The rest can be read (for free) at the link in my bio 🥰 It’s vital that we portray healthy female friendships in media, and I’m on a personal mission to create more of them in fiction. Galdinia and Neryda’s friendship is so important, not only to me, but to the story. Galdinia wouldn’t be who she is without Neryda, and while they have their disagreements, they are quick to apologise and even quicker to forgive. These are the sorts of friendships I want to see more of in fiction. Not toxic friendships, or drama for the sake of drama, but fully realised, blossoming friendships. If you have any book recs (or TV or film) with healthy female friendships, I want to know more! Please let me know in the comments 🥰💬 Read the full article on my Substack now 🧡 #substackwriter #substack #bookstagram #bookrecs #femalefriendship by @megan__gilbert
