A third place finish that means so much to our journey as a team this season! A new team, coaching staff, re-building the culture, generational reconstruction, and Olympic Squad Trials in the middle of the season. Not excuses but the reality of our season. Thank you @teixeiralara for pushing us, challenging us and believing that we could do this, and thanks to the team for trusting us! We decided to participate in all three team routines at the Super Final (and every event of the competition😉) about a month before traveling to Toronto. Yes, this free team it is not a ‘new’ routine, but it is new to this group and we put a lot of work and effort into making it OURS! Everyday was like 1 week of improvement. It was not a perfect swim, we know, but that doesn’t take away from the feeling of fighting until the end, trusting the work and accepting a challenge!! And if the end result is a medal, it is an even better feeling❤️‍🔥 A base mark that stings a lot, but we learn and move on. Grateful for today, but back for more tomorrow!! World Cup Stop #4 🇪🇸 We will be swimming two tech solos with @anitaaalvarez and @kanako.field Anita will be swimming her “looking for America” tech solo while Kanako’s is a brand new routine. The goal for Anita’s tech is to show the confidence gained through the process of competing again as a soloist. This routine has earned incredibly positive comments artistically from the judges in Medellin and Paris. It is a super powerful and emotionally moving routine with improved and stronger technical elements 🔥 Kanako will be debuting a new tech solo routine here in Pontevedra. It is also her first time as a soloist in the world stage since 2023! Gaining experience and preparing for the Junior World Championship this Summer is the ultimate goal. Kanako is a super talented technical athlete and we can’t wait to watch her shine ✨ Opening the competition for us will be Anita debuting her Free Solo on Friday (May 29th - 10 am local time 🇪🇸) Some of you will recognize this song. “Human” which Anita swam in 2024. It is a very special piece of music that compliments the way Anita swims capturing the beauty of being human and embracing the flaws as an integral part of humanity. The strategy behind this solo and the choreography is to be over the top creative and exploit to the MAX the artistic impression scores and new factoring, show Anita’s strengths with the performance, musicality and transitions, and offer something different in this event. Declare an extremely high difficulty is not the main goal or the focus of this routine, intentionally! We are excited to not only watch Anita compete but hoping to inspire some needed change in the sport. LET’S GO USA 🇺🇸❤️ taken in Los Angeles, California by @meganaabarca
