I’ve got a real thing for patchwork at the moment 🪡 by @meganrosemurray

Let’s take a look around an Italian guesthouse in North-West Sicily, once a tuna fishery and now a small selection of apartments that you can rent on Airbnb.

The building was commissioned by a prominent family in the fishing industry, but this wasn’t a factory or warehouse. This art nouveau villa was their HQ: a space to stay, have meetings, keep offices. You can tell because the details are beautiful - they must have envisioned living, working and even entertaining in this property.

Look out for the brown chequered flooring, marble bathrooms, ornate ceilings and pink-tiled kitchen. But, there’s lots of playful modern touches, too, like bright blue headboards in unusual shapes and paint details of swirls around doorframes or window panes. It’s got that balance just right of styled but not overdone, something I find so difficult in my own home - I always want to add more and more.

I stayed in the watch tower for two nights and a first-floor apartment for another two, listening to the sound of the waves as you fall asleep is so relaxing. It’s a real Italian rare find! by @meganrosemurray

This quirky seaside town is tiny, but full of spirit with its wiggly lanes and untapped antique shops lying hidden just beyond the high street. In the midst of it all is Rogue’s Cottage – a gorgeous stowaway with over 200 years of stories and memories within its walls. See more at the link in bio. (📸 @meganrosemurray) by @meganrosemurray

Feeling whimsical 🧺 by @meganrosemurray

Contributor @meganrosemurray is a self-confessed autumnophile. So, when she heard about a seasonal festival celebrating folklore and simple pleasures, it sounded like the perfect way to ring in her favourite time of the year. One of my favourite ever commissions: prancing around the countryside, channeling Jane Austen, committing to my most wistful autumn ever.

They couldn’t have asked a keener bean. I searched high and low for hotels and stays with a Jane Austen feel, ideally complete with roaring fireplace, four poster bed, bookcases galore and surrounding fields to muddy the old petticoats.

Special thanks to @desmondanddempsey who sent me off with their new, beautiful, Jane Austen-appropriate night gown and @lesnereidesparis for the prettiest jewels.

Practising living the good life.

Chickens, farm stays, cottages, orchards, aprons, getting your hands dirty. Slowing down feels just right in September.

You literally cannot get me out of this perfect staycation outfit at the moment, captured by my favourite @sophiaalexandraphotography:

The Engine House, Suffolk

Some recent moments from a stay at this restored 1900 engine house, renovated and curated by creative director Sandy Suffield, filled with an incredible collection of objects sourced over years, and from across the globe.

The first thing that struck me from pictures alone were those Victorian, red-brick and black, quarry tiles. The simplicity, earthiness of them comes to life even more when stood in the space.

Light leads the way throughout. Glass walls mean different rooms are illuminated across the day and it feels contemporary and fresh, while historic and storied at the same time.

Nearby, we went to the Wyken vineyards for lunch and a wander, and into Bury St Edmund’s for a drink in the UK’s smallest pub, The Nutshell. Coffee every morning was collected from Folk.

A gorgeous place to be together, cook, sing, dance, talk, drink. We brought a few things with us: shout out to @oury.home and this beautiful, hand-crafted linen tablecloth. If you’re looking for a Suffolk staycation, @theenginehousesuffolk is brimming with character and design prowess - it’s easy on the eye, but easy to live in for a few days, too. by @meganrosemurray
