This morning I was in Hobby Lobby shopping for beads to make some beaded curtains, and I had to get in a little closer to another woman in the bead section. I said “sorry, we are gonna be up close and personal” and we giggled a bit. I made conversation saying I’m making beaded curtains, and she told me she is making “messy bracelets”. She showed me the bracelet and pointed out that all the beads were different, and it was messy, but at the center….and I said “we have Jesus!” She gave me the bracelet and I put it on right there and almost cried in the middle of Hobby Lobby!! In the middle of our messiness, our Jesus is right there with us through it all!❤️ by @megbevil

Purple Day! 💜

Today, I am 109 days seizure free. And today, I wore purple for all of us who are facing this diagnosis and the many trials that come with it.

This past year has been crazy! A lot of ups and downs and questions, but I am thankful for any and all time seizure free.

I am beyond thankful for everyone who has shown their support in even the smallest capacity. It means more to me than you will ever know!!!

To be even half the woman she was would be a blessing. The love she gave to so many was truly unmatched and unconditional. She went home to Jesus this week, but I know she’s looking down with the biggest smile. ♥️ by @megbevil

happy purple day 💜

Every year, Epilepsy Awareness Day is an emotional but significant day for me. When I was 8 years old, I was diagnosed with Juvenile Absence Epilepsy. Being a young child when I was diagnosed, I was embarrassed, scared, confused, and so much more. I didn’t let anyone take many pictures through my stays at the hospital because I thought it was embarrassing. I didn’t talk about it with friends or share my story with people. Now I know I should have, because it’s just a part of who I am.

Fast forward through the years, through the endless cycle of trying new medicines, through all the doctors appointments and tests. This diagnosis eventually became more than just Absence Epilepsy, and I started to have more Tonic-Clonic (convulsive) seizures.

Although I have regressed through the years, I have also come so far. Last time I made this post it had been over 2 years since I had a seizure. This year, it has only been 8 months since my last seizure. Understand that I am beyond thankful for these 8 months. Whether it is 2 years, 8 months, or a week, I am beyond thankful for the time I have seizure free.

Lastly- I want to thank everyone who has shown their support. I have been so blessed with a circle of people who have not once made me feel weak, but instead taught me to embrace my resilience. Without these people my story would be very different.

happy purple day💜

this diagnosis has altered my life in so many ways that i cannot begin to explain. for the past 12 years, epilepsy awareness day has been a reminder that i have been given the best support system i could ask for, and for the past 12 years there hasn’t been one day i have felt unseen or unheard.
