🙋🏻‍♀️ raise your hand if you’re bad at letting go For years it has been every single little task was on me. The business and team has gotten to the point where for me to be a good leader for us & focus on what I’m good at - I gotta walk away from things i typically like to control 🙇🏻‍♀️ I truly have never felt so enlightened and more energized & now it’s become exciting to think about what else I can delegate & out source! Things I care about when you’re in my chair 👇🏻 - Are you comfortable? - Is the music the vibe you want right now? - Do you want to be recorded or prefer off camera? - Feeling like you need non talking or need some convo? - Do you need a break? - Do you need a snack? While I am applying makeup, I’m usually reading body language and checking in with these things to make sure you’re feeling exactly what you want to be in this moment 🤍 For Rachel, after we did eyes she needed a little lunch break and we made it work! As vendors, we maintain making sure you stay on time, but we often forget some of these little check in marks for your comfort. If I could go back and re-take all the sessions I did not prepare for… Taking the time to PLAN your session will make all the difference ✨ I started off thinking this would be a session with clients and doing makeup and quickly realized when I was asking myself questions - that is not at all what I needed. I needed clear images that allowed me to share information to my clients & images that shared my true persoanlity! Not website images, new headshot or social image, authentic imagery for socials. Each session is different and you want to treat it as such! Sometimes it’s an announcement session or new team pics. Take the time to do the digging of what your brand really needs and then share that with your photographer! I get a little *noooooooooo* feeling every time I see an artist do this online…. As soon as you get that gut twisting scary feeling to raise your rates because you KNOW it’s time, do it. What not to do 👉🏻 post online that you’re about to up it (because your nerves are showing!!) Don’t wait for permission, we’ve all been there when we’ve seen the demand, our skill increase, our education increase, our value of kit, time and professionalism ALL increase. Yet we feel this hesitation to up it because of the what ifs. Do not attract those that only want you for your price point but want you because of the value you bring to your clients. Be confident in raising your rates! The truth is, if you’re feeling that gut twisting feeling (and you hit all the boxes of you’ve really increased your value), it’s a sign that it’s definitely time to raise them.
