Strive Dance Company's Dance Performance Video to Eyes on Fire by Blue Foundation

We had an idea based on the concept of our upcoming fall show and wanted to see what we could do on our own. Because this show is so special and intimate, we wanted only our dancers and the people we trust the most on set. This video (homemade, a first try, warts and all) is a testament to what we can accomplish as a growing organization who is ready to bloom.

Song: Eyes on Fire by Blue Foundation

Dancers:
Jessa Abston
Elizabeth Dodd
Meredith Maidlow
Evie Mecklenburg
Alex Neuzerling
Abby Phillips
Lydia Shannon
Maven Stasila
Sydney Sutton
Claire Underwood

Concept, Choreography, Videography, and Editing: Meghan McGillicuddy

Fog Machine: Stephanie Gustas

Lighting and Hype Girl: Taylor Shelton

Dog Wrangler: Percy Elfreich

Fire Stoker and DJ: Travis Sutton

Special Thanks to: Brain and Kim McGillicuddy

We hope you love this video as much as we do! The dance being performed is actually a snippet taken from our next show, The Ritual:

After about 20 hours of sleep, I’m up and reflecting on this whole HERstory process. We were thrown an abnormal amount of curveballs with this show but we persevered and came together like the community we are. I’m so proud of us for showing kindness, empathy, and grace in moments that could have easily turned us nasty and resentful. That speaks volumes about who we are as artists and people.

To my dancers: thank you for dedicating yourselves to Strive and to each other. You all are beautiful human beings and you each have such a special place in my heart. Your resilience is truly inspiring and it makes me want to keep bettering myself and my art. 💫

To my band: thank you for putting so much into this show and bringing your professionalism and skill into Strive. I adore every one of you. Watching your own community form with one another is so touching and exactly the kind of connection I hoped would happen through this process. I have nothing but respect for you guys and I’m honored that you’re a part of Strive. 🤘🏻

To my crew: thank you for everything this week! You truly bring all of our months and months of work to life by lighting us beautifully and making sure we sound amazing. You are just as much a part of this team and I’m so grateful for you and I can’t wait for more shows together! 🔥

Thank you all from the bottom of my heart. I’m so lucky to have such a special community of artists come together and make magic with me! 💚

That’s a wrap on HERstory. I’m ready to get spooky with The Ritual 🔮 by @meghan.mc.96

Make sure you get your tickets! This unique performance, directed and choreographed by @meghan.mc.96 , uses contemporary style movement and witchy iconography to ask: how do we face the darkness inside us? The answer (spoiler) is by turning to face it hand in hand with our community.

Strive is really such a beautiful part of my life and I wouldn’t trade it for the world. Fake out surprise pre-screening of our 2026 dance video, sleepovers, rehearsals, realizing custom ink is a bunch of jackals, and frolicking through fog. What more could I ask for? 🖤🔮 by @meghan.mc.96

One week from now we are holding auditions for our 2026-2027 season! Come and be a part of all these cool projects during Strive Dance Company's third full season! 💚

The Ritual: October 2026
This will be one of the most experimental works Strive has staged. Rather than a traditional storyline, The Ritual will be an immersive descent into darkness and transformation using movement, breath work, silence, experimental soundscapes, and ritual inspired choreography.

Gala Fundraiser: January 2027
This will be a black tie evening celebrating Strive’s journey so far while raising funds for our first permanent studio space. The night will include performances of favorite pieces from past shows with one new work, screenings of our dance films, a silent auction featuring local businesses, and a dance floor celebration after the performance!

Ramble On: The Led Zeppelin Experience: June 2027
A full length contemporary dance and live band production inspired by the music of Led Zeppelin. Rather than imitation, the show will translate Zeppelin’s sound into movement, exploring themes of journey, resilience, transformation, and collective strength, building toward a powerful high energy finale.

Auditions will be held at Dance Kaleidoscope on Friday, July 10, 6-7pm and July 11, 2-3 (it is not required to attend both times, choose which time works for you!). See our last post for more details, and sign up on Eventbrite using the link in our bio (auditions are free to attend 😊).
