Happy September first to the softball world.

Just wanted to send a friendly reminder that college softball didn’t work out for me the first time.

Or the second.

September first was not my end all be all, it was the start of conversations that lead me on my athletic journey

but it was far from the final destination.

I learned throughout college something I wish I knew beforehand.

The right fit.

I wanted to prove to the world I mattered in this sport so I chased the big schools, I chased playing time, I chased extrinsic gratification.

I transferred twice because of this mindset.

Then I went to Bryant and everything changed. I loved the people I was around. I loved my coaching staff. I loved the Bryant education and community. Everyday I wanted to be better for those around me before myself.

And then athletic success followed.

2 years out of college and I still get to lace up my cleats,

And I’m thankful every day my September first phone calls were far from my final destination

It’s hard to stop a kid who is motivated by a genuine love for the game. Last year, after my college season ended I refused to say goodbye. I trained with uncertainty of what was next, and vouched for myself to anyone who would listen (and literally spammed player interest forms). When an opportunity came with the rise, I lived an experience I never thought was possible, but lived a feeling I never wanted to let go of. Which is why agreeing to play with the Florida heat was so easy, a promise of a full summer of softball was everything. A promise that is appearing to have been too good to be true. With the Florida heat now not competing in 2026 this summer is going to look a lot different than I originally imagined. But I’m excited to put my head down and get back to work to be able to once again put on a jersey, love every second of this amazing game, and show everyone what this mid major, 2 time transfer, middle of nowhere kid is capable of when she refuses to say goodbye.

See you on the field soon, somehow, someway. by @meghouk4
