QR codes make life easier but they can also hide where they’re really taking you.

In today’s Tech Explained Tuesday, I break down how QR codes work, why attackers sometimes use fake QR codes (“quishing”), and one simple habit that can help keep you safer: always check the URL preview before you tap.

Not every QR code is malicious but every scan deserves a quick second look.

💬 Have you ever scanned a QR code without thinking twice?

These are 3 of the biggest cybersecurity myths people still believe:

❌ “A strong password is enough.”
A strong password is important, but it’s only one layer of protection. If your password is stolen in a data breach or phishing attack, multi-factor authentication (MFA) can be the difference between staying secure and getting compromised.

❌ “Macs can’t get viruses.”
macOS has strong built-in security, but it’s not immune. Malware, phishing, and other attacks can absolutely target Mac users—they’re just less common than on some other platforms.

❌ “Incognito mode makes you anonymous.”
Incognito only prevents your browser from saving your history on your device. Your internet provider, employer or school, and the websites you visit can still see your activity.

Cybersecurity isn’t about being paranoid—it’s about understanding how technology actually works. 🔐
