Back from a short instagram hiatus to share a few short clips from my current documentary: Skinnerburn - Where do the pigeons go? In November, the tenancy for the Skinnerburn pigeon lofts will come to an end after being served with a Notice to Quit terminating a 60+ year tenancy. The lofts are to be demolished, and the land is being sold to developers as part of the Forth Banks Masterplan in the sought-after Quayside location. For the best part of this year, I have been filming with Kenny, Alan and Geordie as they near the end of their tenancy, reflect on the changes in the area, head into their final race season and to explore themes of third spaces and the decline of hobbies as a whole.
It’s genuinely been one of the most interesting and rewarding experiences spending time with people who have such rich knowledge of the area and the sport, which is one that is steadily disappearing, I’ve even had a pigeon named after me(!!) Here are just a FEW clips from over this year as I need to hold myself accountable and start getting the wheels in motion to take it further xxx by @megjepson

“Billy”

Little publication/poster set to celebrate our recent event at @tynesidecinema, riffing on their very beautiful What’s On guides from the 80s (see last slide for my favourite). It was lots of fun working with the @philcompson’s current Alternative Provision group, who were naturals in front of the camera, and with @megjepson, who made a pretty grey October day look really nice.

Edited by @harrylaws.on, photography throughout by @megjepson, graphic design by @foundation.press, and imaginary film posters by Billy, Thomas, Bethany and Phil. Got a bunch of posters left so drop me a line if you want one

1-10 details + Meg’s original photographs
11-16 imaginary film posters
17-20 scans + pics from the archive
