13 hrs and 51 minutes and over 12,500 feet of elevation and 37+ miles later I have completed the official WOLRDS HARDEST SPARTAN ULTRA IN MORZINE FRANCE!!!!! I went into this race with the strongest doubts of finishing ever. I’ve never done a European Spartan but knew they were known to be nasty. Harder obstacles, hiking through the Alps which is extremely challenging, and harder cutoff times. The penalty loops if I missed an obstacle were heavy carries. They were watching you at all times and blew a whistle if you failed an obstacle. I was up against the big leagues. And I can’t believe I somehow even came in second place in my 25-29 age group against the European athletes. I shared about my complete lock in training regimen on my story - I went in feeling completely fresh and prepared despite the challenges during my peak training period. In peak training 3 weeks before the race, I lost my grandmother Lemmo. I am so lucky to have had 17 years of my life with 4 grandparents and 29 with 3. My grandmother was a devout catholic her whole life and set a kitchen timer to pray every day. Anytime we had any big life event, job interview, sports event, or test we would tell her to add it to her prayers list. I know today she would be praying for me during the ultra as I know she was watching over me in the beautiful French alps. She and my grandfather and their friends were quite the world travelers so she had the opportunity to see the alps and I know I get my love of travel from them! This race was brutality. And luckily Instagram now allows multiple captions per photo so here we go! Awards ceremony on Saturday after the race Friday. Second place age group 25-29! Of course celebratory photo with my trainer who finished 2 hours ahead of me Most accomplished smile ever Fun celebrations Saturday post race with the best views Finish line video My best friend the log had to carry for a while and swim with Unfortunately the photo doesn’t show the amazing animals I got to share the course with just off to the side of the photo!! Hundreds of cows and goats Probably hating my life but loving the views One of many heavy Carrie’s My favorite part of the race was t by @meglemms

I’ve rewritten this post for my digital diary on here like 5 times already (because my brain is still recovering) BUT after 12 hrs 49 min and 57 seconds of pouring rain and brutality I AM A 3 TIME SPARTAN ULTRA BEAST at a race that will go down in spartan history!!! 1 out of 2 women in my age group finished, only 18 women finished, 181 people in total finished, hundreds did not finish or show up!!! Only a small percentage of the world would do what I did on Saturday - the mental strength it takes is ungodly. I usually remain in positive spirits during a race (even on lap 2 of the ultras, I normally call it the “victory lap” and even say that to my course mates) - but I could not even say that as this day absolutely broke me. One of the top hardest ultras in the US absolutely lived up to its name. I’ve been warned that at this race every year the conditions are questionable. 6 AM at the start we all knew the rain and wind was coming but we enjoyed the beautiful warmth and calm while we had it. 10 AM the heavy drizzle started and the woods started to get sketchy. My goal was to get to transition (about 18 miles in) by 1 pm before the worst of the storm started. I got in around 12:39 ahead of my goal and got out quick. The rain started coming down at 1 and only got worse. Having to go up steep terrain in mudslides and down through woods in rocks and mud was beyond dangerous and terrifying - and it was just over 40 degrees with feels like in the 30s with wind and cold. 4 pm or so they shut down all the obstacles and penalty loops deemed unsafe. At that point if you stayed on main course, you finished. And all of us who did damn deserve it because all of us were shaking in the lodge with foil blankets with medical after we crossed the finish line. I would not have made it through lap 2 without the following in which I will continue in comments because as usual I am beyond the limit #spartan #spartanrace #spartanultra by @meglemms
photo dump from our little slice of paradise, alpe d’Huez home of Tomorrowland Winter 🏔️🍾 just as magical as the summer with even more amazing moments and the best part getting to unite with people from around the world…we definitely will be back From the secret surprise sets, to parties at our hotel, to being so hot in the sun you’re laying on the snow to full sets in a blizzard and the crowd is all soaked going absolutely wild, to meeting some of our favorite artists, to conquering ski runs like the infamous tunnel run, to early morning hikes up the mountain - and a full 7 days of partying. Tomorrowland is the most special place on earth. Let’s do it again for the main event in Belgium in July ❤️ #livetodaylovetomorrowuniteforever by @meglemms
