Trouble Will Find Me was released in May 2013, I saw the National 3 days straight at Prospect Park Brooklyn in 2014 supporting this album. The National all are accomplished musicians, composers, writers, artists and full on performers.

Virgins and Philistines a great name for a great album by a great band.
Pete De Freitas played on 2 tracks.
Lovely songs. Thinking of You is a song that has stuck with me like many of the Colorfield’s songs.

There are so many great bands past and present. At the end of each year we look back at all the records we listened to and it’s so difficult to put them in any order. For me Magazine is still my favorite band and The Correct Use of Soap my favorite album. May 2026 be the favorite year for all of us. May Health, Wealth, love, democracy music and a blue wave be a part of our lives.

We still feel the loss of so many of our music heroes who passed away in December, like Jet Black, Pete Shelley and Terry Hall to name a few. Today is the anniversary of the day we lost Joe Strummer (23 years ago) whose voice would have been loud and vibrant against Fascism and the Oligarchs taking over our Democracy. Joe Strummer forever in our hearts, minds and turntables.

I love the USA so I am sad for it and us. John Philip Sousa seems not appropriate. Heaven 17 wrote the song that so captures the moment.

Magazine was always too clever for mass market success. Howard’s lyrics, their mood and intellectual vibe are brought to life by the great musicianship of the band. I have not heard a better compliment of music and lyrics since. The Correct Use of Soap is the best example. In A Song From Under the Floorboards, Dostoyevsky is alive and kicking :). The allusions to his Notes From the Underground are so cleverly done.
The line in Philadelphia “I`d`ve been Raskolnikov but Mother Nature ripped me off” is a witty reference to Crime and Punishment. Magazine will always be my favorite band. @punkr2.2 inspired Magazine post inspired me to post this. Cheers to great music

Bands like the Clash, Specials, Fun Boy Three and many of that era have made us aware of, and inspired our sense for social justice, equality and human rights.
The Lunatics Have Taken Over the Asylum
so well illustrates the feelings of the sensible and decent people of this country. Lynval Golding, Terry Hall and Neville Staples wrote this song so appropriate for this travesty that we are living through. Terry Hall forever missed.

I saw the Raybeats the first time at the Ritz NYC in 1981. I was hooked on their surf instrumental sound. They were part of the NoWave with members from 8 Eyed Spy and the Contortions. Danny Amis left in 1982 and formed Los Straightjackets. Pat Irwin played with the B52’s. Like with Polyrock Phillip Glass collaborated with the Raybeats and created this artistic, avant garde album. Their cover of Jack the Ripper by the late, great Link Wray is surf music with an avant garde touch. The Raybeats with the living legend Phillip Glass make this album an incredible listening experience.

Watching the Detectives is classic Elvis Costello and one of my favorite singles.
I could only imagine what it would be like to see Elvis at the Sydney Opera House.
My good Aussie friends @therealkoolstuff and @record.and.art.collection did so and were so incredibly generous and sent me a t-shirt from the event. When I am through admiring it, I will proudly sport it. Wyatt and Liza you are the greatest 🙏❤️ by @megmaury
