Hi everyone!

My name is Meg, and I’m an indie fantasy author. My current project is The Descent. Which officially releases on July 15th, 2026!

A bit about me:

Though a storyteller at heart, I initially considered writing a chore rather than a pass-time. My perspective shifted when, during my first marketing internship, I was encouraged by a mentor to make writing my focus. From that moment forward, I put my energy into sharpening her written skills.

I hold a Bachelor’s of Commerce (Cooperative) Honours degree from Memorial University of Newfoundland. Most of my past writing samples are focused on topics like fine art and business. Beyond writing, I am also a professional illustrator! by @megsfables

Official Release Date for my indie fantasy novel The Decent!

🗡️ Synopsis: Who do you become in the face of falling?

Elise had always coveted power and respect, and as the heir to the Icarian throne she felt that she deserved it. When told she would have to marry a man of lesser rank to be crowned—one who she hardly even knew—she was furious. Her life had been spent bowing to the whims of her mother and the royal council, all in efforts to distance herself from the poor reputation of her late father’s reign. Despite the outrage, she was willing to continue sacrificing to finally secure her legacy.

Her arranged nuptials had been meticulously planned, she had molded herself to become exactly who the council had imagined for the throne. Everything had been done right.

Almost everything.

Elise’s heart lies with someone else, a childhood friend who is now at the head of her Queen’s Guard. Their stolen moments have become more precarious. Though she wouldn’t dare dream of giving up her knight, the weight of the risk causes cracks to form in her carefully curated image. Everything she’s ever wanted threatens to slip from her grasp as secrets crawl out of the shadows. After all, the higher you float, the farther you have to fall. by @megsfables

The Descent comes out in TWO DAYS!!

I thought I’d share a bit about my writing ecosystem from The Descent, and also show what I’m doing differently for book 2 👀

1. I use Reedsy for all working drafts! When first writing The Descent, I used Google Docs to host my manuscript draft. Unfortunately, as the file got bigger, Google Docs didn’t quite know how to handle it. I found that Reedsy was a great alternative! It keeps things organized, tracks your writing metrics to stay on top of your goals, allows you to collaborate, and have great exporting features!

2. The Descent had 0 outline. While I liked the flexibility of that, it also meant that there were lots of plot holes to fix as I edited. Outlining anything brings me complete dread, so instead I made it more fun with visual interest. I like to think of it as a plot scrapbook. I search for images that fit the vibes of the chapter I’m writing, piece them together, and make notes for how the scene will go. This doubles as a great visual guide for referencing later on. I can look at a “chapter summary” and know exactly the content at a glance. As a bonus, it also gets me to use all those photos I save on Pinterest.

3. I’ve really gotten into physical journaling lately, and it has complimented my ecosystem nicely! I keep a notebook dedicated to my next project in my journal folio where I take notes as part of my routine. It lets me flesh out the story without committing to anything written. Another bonus, I have a mini version I can take with me anywhere inspiration strikes.

4. Of course I need a pal to cuddle with while I write. Mani is content to snuggle as I type away. 💗 by @megsfables
