When I started jñāna everyone always asked me why I insisted on shooting in nature. “Why not just a studio? Use a green screen. AI is gonna copy this soon anyway.”

I stuck to my gut and kept heading out into the vast, incredible landscapes of India. In doing so, the process itself became a spiritual practice, a constant, beautiful reminder of just how small I really am in this world.

Jñāna is the Sanskrit word for knowledge, more specifically, knowledge that liberates.

When I first started building an app for yoga and meditation, most people warned me not to. They told me the wellness app space was oversaturated. That yoga alone has millions of creators, platforms, and products. Where would I find my place? They weren’t wrong.

But something felt distinctly missing. And as AI continued to blur the lines between lived experience and plagiarised wisdom, it started to feel like we were drifting even further away from the human element behind so much of what being well actually means.

Despite being worth trillions, wellness has never felt more sanitised, more performative, or more disconnected. We track everything, optimise everything, try to perfect ourselves, and yet somehow feel more anxious, fragmented, and lost than ever. Our inner knowing is eroding, and most of us don’t even realise it’s happening.

At the same time, wellness apps recognise this demand to “feel better” and promise solutions at the tip of your finger. Promises that often feel unrealistic and rarely last. Most of Silicon Valley would probably argue that the next successful app is the one that incorporates AI seamlessly and cost-effectively.

I disagree. I think what’s missing is soul.

So I went searching for it back home, in India, where much of the wisdom we consume today actually comes from. Jñāna isn’t built around perfect bodies, streaks, performance, or daily optimisation. It is built around knowledge and practices from some of India’s leading teachers, shared in ways that honour context as much as practice.

Many of the classes aren’t meant to be repeated endlessly. They are meant to shift a lens, open curiosity, and hopefully give you tools you can take into everyday life. Last week, a dear friend told me she walked away from one of our wisdom classes with a spring in her step, suddenly grateful to be travelling and to have her life. This week, she told me she was reminded of the class again when she hit an obstacle at work.

If Jñāna can do that sometimes, for some people, that’s enough.

We know big tech is after our cognitive capabilities but what about our intuition? Have you ever felt like you’re a slave to your health tech devices and trackers or that you outsource a lot of what you’re feeling to them? Like you can’t even decide how you’re doing without checking what they say?

By outsourcing our intuition to machines we risk severing the link between our bodies and our inner knowing. The more we rely on trackers to tell us how we feel the less we’re able to feel it for ourselves.
