We spent the day at ACCT Philly (@acctphilly) walking dogs with the @wodify crew. Pastina, Fink, Winter White, and Doman got a long walk, plenty of treats, and a lot of cuddles.

I met Thiago in 2012 through mutual teammates. Never imagined he’d become a part of our family… my little brother and Owen’s Tio Thi.

Over the years he’s coached at @beaconmixedmartialarts, pouring himself into our Adult and Kids BJJ program. He’s coached Owen through nerves, through self-doubt, through every moment he wasn’t sure he could do it and helped him find real confidence on the mats. He’s not “Coach Thiago” to Owen. He’s Tio Thi.

That’s who Thiago is. He shows up. Every time, no hesitation. Reliable, patient, all in for beginners just starting out and for the ones competing at the highest level.

Right now he needs us the way he’s always shown up for all of us. He was detained on his way to Florida to coach our students at Pan Ams.

Tri State started a GoFundMe to help with his legal fees and loss of income. You can find the link in my bio (we will not create a separate one to minimize confusion). If you are able to please consider donating.

We will also be planning a seminar to continue raising funds while he is fighting his case.

This is Thiago’s community, and he’s never once let us down. Now it’s our turn. Please help us bring him home. 🥋❤️

Congrats to the team that competed last weekend at @jjworldleague!

Our small but mighty team brought home 5 gold and 1 bronze! We are proud of everyone’s effort, hard work, and drive to get right back on the mats to continue to improve! They’re fired up for the next one! by @mekella

Today was my first BJJ tournament at @jjworldleague , and I won’t lie I woke up this morning with butterflies. I almost let my nerves talk me out of going. But my dad helped me get my mind right, and I thought about what Uncle Ant had shared with me. After that, I was ready to compete.

I went 2 for 2 in gi and brought home gold. There was no one in my division for no gi, so I only competed in the gi.

The medal is cool, but it’s not what made today special. Having my dad in my corner, competing side by side with my teammates, and looking over to see my mom, Lovè, and teammates who didn’t even get to compete, all there just to cheer us on, made me so happy.

Took homeschool abroad with next a level with a trip to Japan 🇯🇵

I was lucky enough to explore Osaka and Tokyo, eating my weight in konbini egg sandos and wagyu along the way.

Some of my favorite things were seeing whale sharks at the Osaka Aquarium, staying at a cool waterfront Airbnb near Osaka Stadium (@tugboat_suite), and wandering all the way from Shibuya to Harajuku. Along the way I hung out with micro pigs, visited two Pokémon Centers, saw Mt. Fuji, and even drank spring water that takes 20+ years to flow down from the mountain.

We wrapped up the trip watching the DisneySea fireworks and taking in a final view of Tokyo Tower from our last hotel.
