For Sonidos del Sur fanzine @mestizx_lab , I had the honour of working with @wombatuque. I decided to share the story of this beautiful community and the incredible musicians who come together to keep the tradition of Roda de Samba alive at every event.

It’s so beautiful to see how strong the community is with people of all ages joining in, singing, playing, and celebrating together. The energy, the music, and the connection are so powerful.

TRAUMA
Un ciclo que se repite, una herida que cargamos a lo largo del tiempo y transmitimos de generación en generación. Estas imágenes del pasado muestran las raíces de la avaricia, la codicia, la violencia y la dominación: la explotación de la tierra, la vida humana y las culturas en nombre del poder y para obtener más poder. Estas imágenes no son historia lejana; siguen resonando en nuestro presente. Romper el ciclo empieza por reconocer de dónde viene.

Este video es una colaboración con @lost_reflexion para Trauma, una de las cuatro canciones de su nuevo EP.

TRAUMA
A cycle passed down, a wound we carry. Footage from the past shows the roots of greed, violence, and domination, extraction of land, lives, and cultures, all in the name of power.
These images are not distant history they are echoes in our present.
Breaking the cycle begins with knowing where it comes from.

I joined a workshop run by @malva_________ and @aambivalenciaa from Colombia, who are part of Animación Híbrida, a group of visual artists who work with animation. It was a lot of fun to get back into using animation tools again , even though I felt a bit out of practice.

Here’s how I made the animation:

*I created the frames in Illustrator, drawing frame by frame
*Then, I prepared the file and separated the colors for a risograph print in Photoshop.
*After printing the risograph, we scanned it in high quality and used Photoshop again to organize everything and finish the animation.

The animation shows a Rothschildia caterpillar. This caterpillar grows into a large, colorful moth known for its beautiful patterns and textures. by @mel_ao2

The Infliction of a Wound zine was an integral part of my recent installation, where I explored the healing process of a wound in human skin as a metaphor for societal healing across generations.
Through this analogy, I wanted to emphasize the importance of acknowledging our shared histories both indigenous and colonial in the process of reconciliation and healing.

The zine was created using the screen printing technique. This was part of a collaborative effort with @ethnodanceology , and I’m grateful to have been part of the beautiful Originario 2024 project.

Así como la piel humana se regenera, formando nuevas células para sanar una herida, nosotros, como sociedad, actuamos como esas células vivas.
A través de generaciones, creamos nuevas ideas y formas de vivir que buscan reparar las heridas sociales que hemos heredado y construido.

Este proceso de regeneración no es solo físico, sino profundamente simbólico. Involucra el reconocimiento de nuestras raíces, desde la sabiduría ancestral de los pueblos indígenas hasta el legado complejo de nuestra historia colonial.
