A little magic during the golden hour. Motherhood has been the best adventure of my life. Seeing things from little M’s perspective opens up my eyes (and heart) to more then I could have ever imagined.

We legit don’t know where / how he learned this but Little M has been actively practicing to do the splits (?!🤷‍♀️). Lol babies are funny. And he’s been so proud. He’s also been trying to “juggle” but will save that for another day.

👋It’s been a minute since I’ve published legitimate art related content on here….
Before little M’s arrival I was convinced that the 18 months on maternity leave with him we’re going to be some of the most productive and artistic months in my life - I truly TRULY believed that. In a lot of ways that was true, just not in the “art making” way I had thought. What I didn’t know was the creativity and learning that would come with the new gig which was motherhood. How my focus would shift to focusing on being truly present, figuring out how to connect with my little through learning and play, how to operate on a different kind of sleep, bedtime routines, structure and schedule.
Mamas, Papas, Caregivers, you know! I didn’t know. In fact, I had NO IDEA. But I also didn’t know that I was about to reconnect with a side of myself that I had been missing. This has been the most rewarding time in my life for so many reasons - obviously M and growing as a family plays a huge role in that.

With the help of our friends, my husband and I hustled and we’re able to participate in some great exhibitions during my maternity leave but I was surprised to not actually find the time to spend in the studio and just “make stuff. Now, a month away from little M’s two year birthday, I am finding that groove.

While balancing motherhood, the 9-5 and the art practice I don’t know how often I’ll get to spend here but it’s been feeling more and more possible - and that makes me damn excited.
