Day 19: APOTHECARY 🧪🏳️‍⚧️✨

A little bottled gender euphoria! 💖

Who needs a magical transformation potion when you've got modern medicine? 😂

For today's prompt, I decided to give the traditional apothecary bottle a gender-affirming makeover. While my own testosterone comes in pill form, a little artistic license seemed appropriate for this particular elixir.

Turns out some of the best magic is just being able to feel more like yourself. 🖤

Day 18: HERBS 🌿😎

My muse has entered her herbal era.

My beautiful partner Anna has been patiently waiting for her Artober debut, and honestly, the HERBS prompt couldn't have been more perfect.

Inspired by a hilariously blissed-out photo I took of her on the train, I present my favorite hippie in all her leafy, green glory.

As Bob Dylan would say: Everybody must get stoned! 😂 🌱💨

Day 17: BEETLES & BUGS 🪱🖤

Beetles? Bugs? BEETLEJUICE!

Today's carving is a little trip to Saturn, where the sandworms are hungry and the recently deceased are on the menu.

And because apparently I have a thing for pairing ridiculous creatures with ridiculously appropriate songs, today's soundtrack is “Worms” by The Pogues. 💀

IT'S SHOWTIME!

**Day 16: STONE GOLEMS 🪨**

Even the biggest, toughest-looking creatures can have the softest hearts.

Today's carving is a two-for-one NeverEnding Story reference. Rock Biter, who somehow manages to be both hilarious and absolutely heartbreaking -- "They look like big, good, strong hands..." 😭

And what better soundtrack for a giant made of stone who's lost his friends than Simon & Garfunkel's “I Am a Rock”? 🖤

Day 15: MORE DRAGONS! 🐉🌈

Some dragons breathe fire. Others bring a little luck, a whole lot of joy, and the biggest, goofiest smile.

Falkor from The NeverEnding Story has been one of my favorite fantasy creatures since childhood, so naturally he had to make an appearance for today's prompt.

And thanks to Dustin and Suzie of Stranger Things, that theme song is stuck in my head all over again. 🎶 😂

Day 14: PORTAL 📼🌀

Some portals lead to other worlds. Some songs bring us back.

Inspired by Max, the Upside Down, and the power of a perfectly timed Kate Bush cassette.

Keep running up that hill. 🖤

Day 13: TOADSTOOL 🍄🌀

A little psychedelic fungus among us!

For today's Pink Eraser Artober prompt, I went down a wonderfully weird rabbit hole of melting mushrooms, swirling patterns, and trippy visuals inspired by the delightfully bizarre world of Of Montreal.

The result? One drippy little toadstool that looks like it might be having an existential crisis. 😂

Stay weird, little mushroom. ✨

Day 12: WOODLAND 🌲🪵🦉

Naturally, my mind went straight to the Log Lady from Twin Peaks (and the owls too...)

Twin Peaks has always held a very special place in my heart. My last band, Bird Talk, was so inspired by the series that we referenced it in our name and music.

We all lived together in a two-story home we affectionately called the Bird House, named after Waldo the myna bird belonging to Jacques Renault. We'd binge-watch Twin Peaks together, and somewhere along the way, that wonderfully weird world became part of our own.

So this little carving is a love letter to the Log Lady, David Lynch, and some very special memories. 🖤

My log has something to tell you...

Vinnie aka @pooch_cuttin_up at @rosehillbarbershopchicago is seriously the best. As long as he's cutting hair in Chicago, I will only be going to see him.

I have gone to so many different barbershops all over the city and while I've had good haircuts by other barbers, he just always kills it and does exactly what I ask for.

I had a very disappointing cut by someone else who is literally a block away from our place in Edgewater and Ive been growing it out the last 8 weeks just so I can finally go back to him. Needless to say, my lesson has been learned. Thanks, Vinnie! 🥰💇💈 taken in Rosehill Barbershop by @mel_mopedz

Day 11: FAMILIAR 🖤🐄

Some people have black cats as familiars. We have Vivian.

Part dog. Part cow. 100% magical. 🐾✨

She actually moos, she demands cozy sweaters, and she occasionally visits her “other family” at the neighborhood cow mural. 😂❤️

Day 10: MAGIC SPELL 🪄🖤

No wands, no potions, no incantations.

All it takes is some dramatic eyeliner, a killer voice, and a little post-punk magic.

Because some of us have been SPELLBOUND by Siouxsie for decades. 🦇✨

Day 9: SWORDS & DAGGERS 🗡️

I could have carved any sword or dagger, but that would have been inconceivable!

My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die. ⚔️
