I’m so beyond grateful for the opportunity I had to be a part of the Boston Crusaders this summer and even more grateful for the incredible people I got to share this experience with.

I’m proud to call myself a Giant.

🌫️🥁 What a night for WCU Percussion! Huge congratulations to Melson Phillips @mel_phillips65 on an outstanding Junior Recital, Misty — a program packed with power, color, groove, and style.

From the explosive energy of Tantrum, to the vibrant sounds of Chinese percussion in Romping Golden Pheasants, to the beautiful lyricism of Misty, Melson showed serious versatility and musicianship all evening.

Then came the high-energy collaboration in Spine, followed by a fiery closing performance of Spain (arranged by Melson himself 👀🔥). Performer, arranger, leader… just casually doing everything.

Mel is also one of the most responsible and eager-to-learn students you could ask for. He brings dedication, consistency, and a strong work ethic to everything he does. He is always willing to step up, volunteer, and help whenever needed… or graciously accepts when I “volunteer” him myself 😄.

Big shoutout to all the amazing collaborators who helped bring this recital to life: Ethan Robbins, Evan Goodrich, Mikey Posser, Jordan Hardwood, and Matthew McCarthy.

We’re proud of you, Melson — exciting things ahead! 👏🥁🐾
