Ahhh haaaa my best friend is the most kindest, thoughtful and sweetest person I know and todayyy is her birthdayy and I get to celebrate her. 🥹💕

We’ve shared more than three decades of life together. That is a whole lot of growing, learning, laughing, crying, celebrating, correcting one another, and collecting stories that will NEVAAAAA make it to Beyonce's internet. 😂🤣🤣🤣🤌🏾

She is the friend I can share everyyyyyyyyyyy part of myself with, I am talking the good, the bad, the sad, the messy, the embarrassing and even the moments when I know I was dead ass wrong. She listens, loves me, celebrates me, holds me accountable, and always gives me a safe place to be completely myself.

There is never any distance to recover from or awkwardness to work through. We do life and then we simply link up like no time has lapsed when I see her because real friendship doesn’t require constant contact when the connection is this solid and we SOLID. But I do wish we lived in the same city 😔

Mel, you are truly one of the most beautiful, loving, and wonderful people in this entire world. You are worthy of every good thing your heart desires, and I pray this next year gives you all of it and more.

This weekend I had a moment that reminded me how important real friendship is and how much I've been missing that connection. Normally at big family gatherings I’m bouncing around, taking all the pictures, doing all the mingling, being in the mix. But being sober allowed me to slow down and really sit and connect.

Being someone who leads, builds, and creates community for others, people sometimes assume I don’t need that same care in return.

But even the strong friend…
the leader…
the one holding it all together…
needs and wants someone to sit across from them and say, “How are you doing?”

I’m grateful I was able to have that moment and thankful for friendships that go deeper than surface conversation.

Real connection is rare and when you have it, you hold onto it. I've held onto this one for well over 30 years and I am thankful to call her my best friend.🥰🥰😌
