Endlich kann ich euch mehr über mein bisher größtes Projekt erzählen: Ich durfte meinen ersten eigenen TV-Film machen. Eine Reisedoku über Sri Lanka für das Format "Young Adventurers". Mehr als ein halbes Jahr hat mich die Arbeit an dem Film jetzt begleitet. Und nächste Woche kann ich ihn endlich mit euch teilen. 🥳
Ab dem 03.09. ist mein Film “Sri Lanka - Allein im Tuktuk über die Insel” in der @ardmediathek verfügbar und am 10.09. läuft er im Fernsehen um 20:15 beim @ndr.de 🍿

♥️ Herzensangelegenheit 🏄‍♀️ Während meiner Dreharbeiten auf Sri Lanka hatte ich das große Privileg @sea_sisters_lk bei ihrer Arbeit zu begleiten. Der Verein schafft sichere Räume für Sri Lankas Frauen und Mädchen und gibt ihnen durch Schwimmen und Surfen mehr Selbstvertrauen, Unabhängigkeit und neue Perspektiven. Sozialer Wandel durch Surfen, Seasisters macht’s möglich!

Der ehrenamtliche Verein ist als Non-Profit auf Spenden angewiesen. Wenn ihr die Arbeit unterstützen könnt, würde ich mich sehr freuen, wenn ihr etwas spendet. ❤️ Jeder noch so kleine Beitrag hilft.

Appreciation post 🫶 Auf meiner Reise bin ich sooooo vielen tollen und herzlichen Menschen begegnet. Ohne all diese Begegnungen wäre diese Reise in der Art gar nicht möglich gewesen. Mich haben so viele Menschen in ihr Zuhause gelassen. Mir Tee angeboten. Mir ihre Arbeit, ihr Leben gezeigt. Mir unzählige Fragen beantwortet. Mich sogar bei ihnen schlafen lassen! Ich habe so viele inspirierende Geschichten gehört. Leider hat es nicht jede Geschichte, nicht jedes Gesicht und nicht jede Begegnung in den Film geschafft. Aber die Erinnerungen bleiben für immer. ♥️

Thanks to everyone I met along the way! You guys made this film happen and I will be greatful forever. Doesn’t matter if our encounter was just a small moment or a longer period of time, I will never forget you and hope to see you soon again! 🫂 taken in Sri Lanka by @melanie_simons_

Second GIZ assignment in Cameroon ✅
This time, we were in the centre of the country, in a small city called Yoko. Surrounded by rainforest but located at a high altitude, this town offers stunning views! 🌄
🎥 Shooting in the rainforest is intense: the humidity is incredibly high, insects are everywhere and you also have to look out for snakes. Our guide cuts the path through the jungle with a machete, clearing the way so we don’t get lost. Being surrounded by these magnificent trees and such rich biodiversity is amazing. 🌳🐍 by @melanie_simons_

🇨🇲 First two weeks in Cameroon – What a start! 🎥

I just spent the past 10 days in the east of the country, deep in the rainforest, accompanying a GIZ team with my camera. On this assignment, I had the privilege of meeting the Baka people (the Indigenous Pygmies of Cameroon) – such an enriching experience.

But let’s be real: this trip was intense! With extreme lack of sleep (my body still adjusting to the climate), I’d say it was one of the toughest one I’ve done so far. A real mix of highs and lows: a nice team, breathtaking landscapes, tons of filming… but also: relentless mosquitos, brutal heat, dodgy motels, days of no connection & no running water, the shakiest roads I’ve ever been on, endless hours in the car, flat tires, and lots of miscommunication (my French definitely needs some work 🙈).

Next GIZ assignment starts tomorrow – can’t wait to see what’s next! ✨

The past 10 days I was tied to my bed 🤒 These days I missed Sri Lanka even more. Especially Hiri 🌴 a place that felt like a second home to me. Thanks to all the amazing people I met along the way!
