One of the biggest lessons I learned in business almost cost me everything:
Get the operator right. If you don’t know how to operate the business, find somebody who does. Not your friend because you love them. Not somebody because you want to put them on. The right person for the job.
On a plane they tell you: put your own oxygen mask on before helping the person next to you. Business is no different.
Build it right first. Get profitable. Get stable. Generate wealth. Then go back and create opportunities for the people you love.
I learned some of these lessons from people ahead of me. Others I learned by making mistakes that nearly cost us everything. Invest fast. @investfestival . And learn from my mistakes the same way I learned from somebody else. You can put your friends on later. But first, make sure there’s actually something worth putting them on to. by @melcarter

One of the biggest ways to build wealth is through networking. The challenge? If you’re born in the wrong zip code, most of your network is stuck in the same place often using their skills the wrong way.

Don’t let that box you in. Get outside your comfort zone. Talk to people. Learn from everyone. Have fun while doing it. You’ll be surprised how much your world (and your opportunities) can grow just by expanding your circle. by @melcarter
