Summer has been over a week but it still feels like it was too fleeting. Bring out the pumpkins? Thanks to everyone who took me up on hanging and jumping in the pool 🏊‍♀️💕

What if YES, AND was not just seen as an improv principle? What if it were seen as a health behavior?

Yesterday at UNGA Healing Arts Week, we brought The Celebration Experiment ~ a playful exploration of the mindset shift that happens when we stop responding to life with “No, but…” and start automatically practicing “Yes, and…”We invited people to experience what happens when we change the way we respond to one another and to life itself.
It was pretty exciting to WATCH the shift happen.

More connection. More play. More possibility. More joy.

That’s the work we’re exploring @improvforworkandwellness: What happens in our bodies when we feel someone genuinely celebrate our good news? What happens when we practice looking for possibility instead of obstruction?

And what if improv isn’t just something you perform, but something you practice as a health behavior?

It felt especially powerful to explore that question in a room devoted to moving arts and health from evidence into action - and to listen to @jonbatiste , Dr. Joanne Loewy & Dr. AZA Allsop discuss Social Music and the possibilities of music as social prescription.

Maybe the arts aren’t just something we watch.

Maybe they’re something we do for our health.

Huge gratitude to everyone who said YES, AND to our little experiment, especially @whoisjernie @nisha_sajnani and all the wonderful people at @jameelartshealthlab. 💛

This week I’m doing what I do best: making questionable choices in more than one county. 💋🎤

🔥 TUESDAY: The Broad Squad is back! In Brooklyn @youngethels ~ Come watch a bunch of broads (and one bro) say things we might regret but just as soon forget.

🔥 FRIDAY: I’m taking my nonsense UPSTATE for Hard Headed Comedy @hardheadedcomedyinc : Backstage @ Otto’s in Piermont with Kyle Lewis, Michael Brigante & Luz Michelle. Sept 18 @ 8PM •
505 Piermont Ave, Piermont, NY.

Two shows. Two counties. COME LAUGH WITH ME. ❤️‍🔥

When one of your besties has a play off Broadway, you grab a few OGs from Circle in the Square @circleinthesquaretheatreschool (who fly in from Canada because they’re true blue @memingway @yogisarahwalsh ) and you run to the ICONIC @59e59 theatre where you all LEAN IN to LEAN TO.

I’ve always known that Stephen Sheffer @dasenpearce is an incredibly talented writer, actor, improviser, producer, and all around human being, but to see his words come to life on the gorgeous set of Lean To and brilliantly acted by the seamless cast @mrjeffords @larisoleynik @jdrloves_u last night was a full circle pinch me moment. Honored to be his friend, colleague and most importantly, his Mammie 💕💋

If you love Stephen (and those of you who know him through me do) RUN & LEAN IN to Lean To. It’s a unique theatre experience and immediately transports you to the woods in a way that is at once hypnotic, fun, funny, therapeutic, and exciting. And if you go tell me when! Defo seeing this one a few more times. Proud doesn’t quite cut it ❤️👏👏👏💋🌹🌹🌹

Utah never disappoints in the summer even when the weather is bizarre and your child gets heat stroke. It’s all good wild horses couldn’t keep us from coming back. See you next summer! 💕👏⛰️🌳

Is it just me, or does anyone else feel like:
a.) summer is just getting started
b.) summer is over
c.) the whole thing has been kind of a hot mess

Between brutal temps, toddler travel, and a 911 call, I’m about ready to get onstage, get silly, complain and overshare to a room full of strangers. Call it stand-up or therapy,

THE MELTDOWN WITH MEL is back Tuesday, August 18 at 7pm at Young Ethel’s — and I’m bringing this ridiculously funny crew with me:

@noneefizzle
@mmmindela
@katiebluntcomedy
@jansel_jadams
@francescavh
@getwood
@brianelberg

Come laugh/meltdown with us. 🔥🎤🫠
Oh! I also clean out my closet onstage.
Come grab some free clothes - y not? 💃👔

This month has been a doozy.
From Road-trippin’ to Connecticut, toddler in tow, to see @zbwc and fam ✔️ to the ⛴️ ➡️the Hamptons to hang with @kacylubell @getaloadand dance to @madjamband ✔️
Back to the city just in time to see them again (evidently we’re super fans 😆) ✔️

Then off to Park City for some family time @deervalleyresort camp and the best bonding with Uncle Jesse BIGtime! @eurojesse

Summer goes too fast. ☀️💨🥹

Comedy has introduced me to some of the funniest, weirdest, and most generous people I know.

Loved sharing the stage with this crew last week at The Summer Meltdown with Mel. Everyone brought something different, the audience was all in, and somehow we managed to avoid getting swept away by the tornado that never came. 🌪️😅

Thanks for another great night, Young Ethel’s @youngethels .
A special thanks to the amazing comedic stylings of @itspatrickholbert @luzmichelleinc @thesuefunke @francescavh @thefoxchaseboy - you all are the real deal🔥💞💋

We’ll be back Tuesday, August 18 at 7 p.m.
Hope to see you there! 💃🏻☀️🍹❤️

Tornado in Brooklyn?! 🌪️😱 Not on our watch!
After watching all of our furniture get air lifted to a different roof in the great storm of 07/03/26 we ain’t messing around!
Welcome to Joey’s concrete furniture company 💪🪨❤️ If this couch ends up on another roof the whole building is going with it. Brought to you by renter’s insurance 🥳

p.s. @davidjohnfrenkil thanks for the call last time letting us know where it landed. Really hope I don’t see your name on my phone today unless it’s for a play date or drinks 🤣

We’ll be at the 🍿…🤞
