Arte y Pasión, in conjunction with the Beacon at Midtown Gallery & Studios, is delighted to present WILD LIFE. The one-time performance in San Antonio will take place at 7:30 pm on Thursday November 12 2026 at the Beacon Midtown Theater at 1136 W. Woodlawn Avenue, San Antonio TX 78201.
The program is a series of lush vignettes in traditional and contemporary flamenco, that tells the story of the wisdom of the animal kingdom. We underestimate our animal friends; and because of our ignorance, they possess a freedom that we do not. They live alongside us, but even as their lives are affected by ours, they watch us and judge us.
The company is Tamara Adira, Genevieve Obregon, Jose Manuel Tejeda, and Celia Corrales, with special guest Melissa Cruz. Members of the audience are invited to dress as your favorite animal.  Following the performance, dancers throughout the community are invited to dance with us. There is a bar and a little celebration. Social hour is 7:30 pm, curtain is 8:00 pm.
For more information on Arte y Pasion, please visit https://www.arte-y-pasion.com. For more information on the event, visit https://fb.me/e/4OzX2nyiS. For more information on the Beacon at Midtown, visit https://www.facebook.com/p/The-Beacon-at-Midtown-61574192342713/.  The performance is made possible in part by the Texas Commission on the Arts. Tickets can be found on Ticketleap at  https://events.ticketleap.com/tickets/arteypasion/arte-y-pasion-wild-life. Student, Military and Senior rates available. Link to tickets in bio. 🦅🐺❤️

That is a wrap for Balik Bayou 2026! Heart full and we’re grateful that we got to experience it with all of you. Thank you Parangal for Balik Bayou! Throughout this Balik Bayou, kept thinking about the Filipinos who came to Louisiana long before us - the migrants, workers, families, and communities who carried memories, traditions, languages, faith, music, and stories across the ocean. They may not have arrived with much, but they brought pieces of home with them. Over time, those pieces took root in Louisiana: in families, neighborhoods, churches, kitchens, celebrations, and relationships that helped Filipino life endure and grow.
Coming to Louisiana gave us the chance not only to learn about history, but to feel connected to it - to recognize that we were not arriving as strangers, but as descendants, inheritors, and participants in a story that began long before us.
And maybe, without fully realizing it, we were also helping create what comes next.
Hope is that we didn’t simply come to Louisiana, perform, and leave. We hope we strengthened something here - opened doors, built relationships, sparked curiosity, and helped create more space for Filipino culture to continue flowing through Louisiana - not just during Balik Bayou, but for many years to come.
The people who came before us carried Filipino culture across distance and uncertainty so that something of home could survive in a new place. We now have the responsibility and privilege to carry it forward. What we shared becomes part of that continuity: one more link between the generations who came before us, the communities here today, and those who will come after us.
We came here following the footsteps of those who came before us. Now, in some small way, we’ve left footsteps of our own - not as an ending, but as an invitation for others to continue the journey.
Maraming salamat po Ate @jessicamelendezbayuga and PAWAL, Ate @coachingkapwa and @bayoubarkada, Faisal Monal @paramatabantugen for all teachings and Ipat A Kadsakay journey, @nefa_1976 for opportunity to tour and to all that showed up and showed out to make Balik Bayou possible.Balik Bayou soon, our ancestors call!

🌶️ THE SPICY SOIRÉE PERFORMER LINEUP IS HERE!

Get ready for an unforgettable night of music, movement, food, and community.

On October 10, we’re thrilled to feature:

💃 Melissa Cruz — Renowned Bay Area flamenco artist who brings the passion and power of flamenco to the stage. @melicruzrocks

🪕 Zedan & Osman — Faisal Zedan and Raman Osman bring together Syrian and Kurdish musical traditions through Arabic percussion, Kurdish strings, and the rich musical heritage of the region. @faisalzdn @ramanosman75

🎶 Diana Gameros feat. Raúl Vargas — Award winning Mexican-born singer, songwriter, composer, and teaching artist Diana Gameros will be joined by Raúl Vargas, a Madrid-born, SF-based songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist who will be playing cajón. @dianagameros @raultrasound

We are so excited to bring these world class artists to the stage, a feat made possible through partnership with Movement, the storytelling initiative hosted by Meklit Hadero (@meklitmusic) centering immigrant, migrant, and refugee musicians.

🙏We firmly believe in paying everybody for their expertise and contributions—recognizing that while our budget doesn’t always stretch as far as we wish it could, valuing immigrant creatives is non-negotiable. Too often, immigrant artists are expected to volunteer their labor, and we are committed to changing that narrative.

In addition to these incredible artists, the Spicy Soirée will also feature food from Chef Reem Assil of @reemscalifornia & Chef Lorenzo Camaal of @merkadosf, drinks from @merkadosf, thoughtful programming, and our first-ever vendor market!

🎟️ Head to the link in our bio to get your tickets before they’re gone!
