Hi, I’m Melike! I love travelling, discovering new cities, hunting down independent bookstores, finding delicious food spots, and having a coffee in hand while doing it all. ☕✈️

I love wandering around cities without much of a plan - although my Google Maps lists might suggest otherwise. I have lists for places I want to visit, places I’ve already visited, and probably lists for my lists.

I dream of travelling the world, but I still find myself returning to London and New York every year as if there weren’t any other cities to explore.
I work for an airline, which means I get to make the most of discounted travel benefits while trying not to spend all my money on travelling.
I’ve been married for six years, and my husband and I are child-free by choice. Instead of buying each other anniversary gifts, we travel together - which feels like the best present of all.

I loved #ThroneOfGlass from book one. If you didn’t, that’s completely fine. We don’t all have to love the same books.
But every time I see another “Am I the only one who doesn’t like this series?” post, I want to say: no. And you don’t have to keep reading it. 😅
You don’t owe a popular series your time just because everyone else loves it. You don’t have to read five books hoping you’ll finally start enjoying yourself.
And the same goes for adaptations and casting choices. If the cast doesn’t match what you imagined and you’re not interested in watching, you don’t have to. You can stick with the books and the characters in your head.
Honest criticism is fair. But there’s a difference between sharing your opinion and going out of your way to complain about something you don’t even want to read or watch.
DNF the book. Skip the adaptation. Find something you actually enjoy. This is supposed to be fun. 📚🤍

Two things about me: I hate driving, and I hate small talk. So naturally, when we were in San Francisco, we had to try a Waymo.
And honestly, it felt like stepping into one of my sci-fi books! It was so easy and comfortable. No driving, no small talk. Just my kind of ride. 😅
Now, whenever it rains in Germany, all I can think about is how nice it would be to take a Waymo home.

One thing about me is that I’ll always try to borrow a book from my local library first. If I love it, I’ll buy a copy to support the author. 📚
That way, I’m supporting my community while making a more sustainable and budget-friendly choice.

Honestly, the best thing about working in #aviation is the moment you get cleared for business class. The second-best thing is the experience you have once you arrive.
I can’t stress enough how much more relaxed travelling feels when you don’t feel the need to rush through a new city. I can always come back, and that is also why I will always look for cosy, unique #bookshops to visit during my stay.
Did you know there’s a Barnes & Noble in San Diego located inside a former theatre? It’s called Bookstar at the historic Loma Theatre, and it has kept its beautiful marquee and painted ceiling. Absolutely stunning. 📚✈️

There are two things that are essential to me when I travel:
Food. I love eating, especially when I get to try something that isn’t easy to find in Germany.
Bookstores. Wherever I go, I need to visit the local bookshops. There’s something about browsing books in a new city that makes a trip feel complete.

#Nonrev means travelling counter-cyclically. For me, that meant going to #NYC between blizzards in below-freezing temperatures. But oh boy, was it worth it.
Was it cold? You bet. But it also meant empty streets, no queues, business-class travel, and affordable hotel prices in downtown Manhattan.
That is the beauty of nonrev life sometimes: going where others don’t want to go, and getting to experience a city in a completely different way. ✈️❄️🗽 taken in New York City by @melikeslittlecorner
