POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Every historic college campus has its secrets. Some of them just happen to still be walking around. 🤫🪦👻

When I wrote MEET ME IN THE GRAVEYARD, I wanted to introduce readers to ghosts who were extensions of Maryland's past, but with their own struggles and lingering attachments to the living world. It seems fitting to introduce colonial Maryland's ghosts on our nation's birthday!

❄️MOLL DYER: The Winter Witch aka Queen of Leonardtown.

🌍NUANI ("Antonio"): Enslaved and murdered after refusing to obey his captors.

🐢ASKUWHETEAU: Walking eternally in remembrance of the Yacocomico people.

📖If you love stories infused with local lore, mysterious twists, and a heavy dose of paranormal romance, your next TBR is waiting.

Thank you to the amazing @bookish.sistersfl for using their tech magic to bring my ghosts to life!

👇🏼Are there other haunted campuses around the country? Share your local lore in the Comments!

“There is nothing less convenient to have around than an angry girl.” 😉🔥

I have to be honest, I love the Angry Girl trope: the fiercely protective, deeply resilient, smart-mouthed heroines who refuse to let the world break them. The ones who stand up, fight back, and don’t apologize for their fury. 👑

If you love...
⚡️ Violet’s lethal intelligence (Fourth Wing)
💫 Bree’s fierce ancestral power (Legendborn)
🔥 Aelin’s fire heart (Throne of Glass)
🐉 Lysandra’s wild, untamed rage (Throne of Glass)
💅 Manon’s savage strength (Throne of Glass)
⚔️ Helena & Laia’s fierce determination (An Ember in the Ashes)
🐍 Inez’s clever, sharp stubbornness (What the River Knows)
...then it’s time to meet Emmy.

🪦In Meet Me in the Graveyard, Emmy Zane is a sharp-tongued, introverted freshman trying to find a fresh start in college. She has no patience for the chaotic, flirty lacrosse playing ghost who won’t leave her alone. But once he starts to crack her stubborn shell, she’ll fight any battle to help him discover the mystery behind his death.

“Emmy…you’re the toughest girl I’ve ever met. Hell, most of the time you’re downright mean. But underneath that, you care so deeply about people. Your love isn’t soft or sweet; it’s fierce and rough and relentless. I see it more and more every time I’m with you.” 🖤

👇 DROP A COMMENT: Who is your ultimate favorite “angry girl” in fantasy literature? If they aren’t on this list, tag them below!

✍🏻Dear all the Fourth Wing readers who are worried about details of Violet & Xaden's casting appearance,

😧 Esther McGregor is blonde. Violet Sorrengail is brunetter/silver (literally impossible to find an actress to fit that naturally).
😮‍💨 She'll get a wig or hair dye.

😩 Xaden Riorson is 6'3-4-5-whatever. Emilio Sakraya is not.
😱 Violet Sorrengail is teensy tiny 5'2-1-0-whatever. Esther McGregor is not.

😯 They'll get...
1. Platform shoes
2. Drop boxes
3. Manipulated camera angles
4. Special effects

🤬 Emilio Sakraya is currently sporting a mustache. Xaden Riorson doesn't have one.
🥱 I'll bet my weekly Starbucks money that Emilio will shave if MBJ asks him to.

These are people. Not cartoons. It's going to be fine.

P.S. Words like "vibes," "chemistry," "aura," and "charisma" can only apply to real life human people, preferably interacting with each other. Two independent, generic, stationary photos cannot have chemistry. Calm tf down.

KEYWORDS: Emilio Sakraya, Esther McGregor, Xaden Riorson, Violet Sorrengail, Fourth Wing, Iron Flame, Onyx Storm, Rebecca Yarros, Michael B. Jordan, TV series, BookTok, Bookstagram, book recs, book recommendations, dragons, dragon rider by @melissaadamswriter

Just my two cents… 🪙🪙

👍You don't have to like the Fourth Wing casting.
👉But you don't have to publicly insult, mock, or harass them either.

👍Everyone is entitled to their opinion.
👉You don't have to use that opinion to intentionally hurt another person.

🫂These are people. Not AI. They are someone's son/daughter, grandson/granddaughter, friend, cousin, etc. They have worked hard, and are hopefully super proud and excited for their accomplishment. They don't deserve the disgusting comments being posted online.

🤔A HINT: If you feel the need to preface your comment with, "I'm not trying to be rude..." you're being rude. Stop it.

❤️Their fanbase should be supporting them, building them up for the massive task they are undertaking FOR US.

🤫If you can't do that, it's ok. Just be quiet.

✍🏻📔These writers know what they're doing!

Of course, reader responses are subjective, but these authors are the ones who touch my heart, soul, and mind with their words.

📕Sabaa Tahir ~ I cannot stress enough how much I LOVE her stories, but her writing style is absolutely stunning. Never overly wordy or fanciful, Sabaa Tahir utilizes straightforward, nonplus language but strings it together in a way that will punch you in the gut.

📙Madeline Miller ~ Simply gorgeous writing. Fluid, evocative, thoughtful, with unending depth. I could analyze her prose all day.

📘Laura Esquivel ~ Her prose is as close to poetry as it can be while still being prose. Like Water for Chocolate is the most beautifully written book I've ever read.

📕Michelle Moran ~ She brings her archeology lens to her writing, and it shows. She vividly builds the historical settings of her stories in a way that immerses the reader in these ancient worlds.

📗Fredrik Backman ~ He will make you laugh out loud and reflect on your life choices at the same time. His style is cutting, sarcastic, quirky, and poignant, finding the absurdity and wisdom in every day life.

📘Shannon Chakraborty ~ I devoured her City of Brass series. Her ability to not only build tension between her characters (romantic, political, cultural, all the tension!) but also craft vivid, illuminating settings is truly masterful.

📗Rebecca Ross ~ She could write a dishwasher instruction manual and I would read it. She fuses such depth of emotion, empathy, and yearning into her writing. Divine Rivals was so beautifully written it changed me on a molecular level.

🗨️Who are the authors you love going back to? Drop a comment and share your favorite authors and their best titles! 👇🏻
