This afternoon, we officially say goodbye.
It has been a beacon of light for so many years. It was Marcie and Ted’s house. Rees’s house. Melissa’s house. Mimi and Poppy’s house.
Behind that big front window, my parents hosted countless parties, welcomed hundreds of game nights, opened their doors to athletes, college students, friends, and family, and offered encouragement, wisdom, and meals to anyone who needed them. This house was humble, warm, and inviting—the place we all wanted to be. The moment you walked through the door, you knew you were loved and wanted.
Within these walls, we learned what truly matters. We were loved unconditionally, taught our worth, held accountable, and spoiled with the most delicious food. We learned to live beneath our means, give generously, turn the other cheek, work hard, travel often, invest in people, and, most importantly, seek Jesus through both the good times and the hard times.
Today, we pass the baton to a wonderful family who embody the same humble and faithful spirit that has filled this home and my parents (who moved in Oct. 1960 to be exact) embody. They have already begun dreaming and making it their own. Blessings to all five of you. May this house love you as well as it loved us.
To 43 Harding Drive: you are, were, and always will be our home sweet home.
Thank You, Lord, for every memory made in these sacred walls and magical place❤️Farewell 43 taken in 43 by @melissabmaster

Mother’s Day looks different for Robert and I this year. 2024 was the last Mother’s Day to celebrate with our moms tangibly. Thank you God for the gift of time as we gained a new mommy to celebrate this year. Watching her become a mother has been one of our greatest gifts. She is one great mommy! Happy Mother’s Day today to all the mothers this side of heaven and all the mothers who are already home🤍oxox by @melissabmaster

Our baby girl brought our baby boy into the world yesterday. He’s so precious🩵In this season of her pregnancy, two major players in our lives went to live with Jesus: Andrew’s dad, BW, in April and Mom in June. Of course we’ve been so excited in the weeks leading up to Teddy’s arrival but there was a silent piece of heaviness inside us knowing that physically they’d not be here. Marcie’s midwife snapped this picture of the moon as she was heading to their home. You can see it already can’t you? It’s crazy awesome! And there they are🤍🤍right there for us to see!
To our Father in heaven, we cannot begin to bring words for this gift of our new love, Teddy Wild. We thank you for allowing us to hear your voice of blessing placing your angels-OUR angels- right above our heads as you changed our world yet again. You are magnificent and merciful. Thank you and we love you!

My momma took her last breath here with us Wednesday morning at 9:21. We surrounded her and were there when the angels came to get her fully, from her earthly shell we also tangibly loved. It was peaceful, swift and painless. She had been praying “for my heart to just stop” and God granted that prayer. We had her a long time. We had her several extra years actually. The last 8 months she felt so well, we had forgotten she had a very tired little heart. She had given so much of it away to everyone in her path, she needed divinity. Daddy, Rees, Mandy, Robert and I were right beside her when I believe she saw Jesus for the first time on Tuesday evening. I bet she prayed for that too. When describing the love I have for her - - words fail. When describing the love she had for me and the rest of us - - same. Losing her, my momma, is a pain I can’t put in words. No matter how long I had her, I want more time. She sacrificed her own life, every day of her life, to make someone else’s better. She rejoiced with those who rejoiced and wept with those who wept. Her tiny stature did not match the giant she was inside. She was the powerhouse behind us all. Facing day 3 without her seems daunting and today I feel like day 4, 5, 28, 94 and 200 will too. I sure am glad He is close to the broken hearted. I am so thankful my parents have been preparing us (in person and behind the scenes) for this week we are currently standing in. Recently she said to me with a wink, “…there is no death, daughter. What we have is forever.” I sure am glad for that too. She was my hero.

We covet your prayers that our humanness subsides and His power takes us over. We would love to hug your neck in our healing, Monday at 1:00 at College Church with a celebration to follow. Thank you all for loving my mother. She loved you too.

So there it is. Today came and went and I tried my best to hold it together. As I walk away from HA today, this will make the first time that a Lloyd will not be at Harding Academy in 67 of her 100 years. Thank you to those of you who helped, championed and lifted me when I needed it. Thank you to the parents who graciously gave me their child for an entire year. Many of you have become dear friends. Thank you to all the children who have been hard working little souls, as we are forever bonded. I love you all forever and ever. Ecclesiastes says there is a time to mourn a time to laugh and a time to dance. I think I’m going to be doing a little of all of them as I begin this next chapter. I treasure every life that I have come into contact with while being at Harding Academy. The Lord has richly blessed me. Once a wildcat always a wildcat. by @melissabmaster
