Hi, I’m Melissa. I thought I’d officially introduce myself. In one week, my husband and I will celebrate our 10th anniversary, so I thought I’d share pictures from our engagement session — around this time in 2014.

A little about me:

🌻 I’m originally from the East Coast. I’ve been in Seattle for 14 years and I absolutely love it!
🌻 My sweet kitty, Piper, is my best friend and little shadow. She was a rescue, but she truly changed our lives for the better.
🌻 I’ve worked in my industry for 28 years and I’m still in my 40s. 🤯
🌻 I’m very much an introvert. I love the simple things in life like reading a book by the water or watching a sunset. 🌅
🌻 I started making cards through a volunteer program at work and quickly got hooked! It’s been the most fun creative outlet and something I crave now everyday. I’ve found it to be immensely helpful for my mental health.
🌻 I started this account mostly to archive my favorite cards since most are donated. And so my friends and family on the East Coast can see them.

I had the most amazing weekend with three crafty events! One of them was Wicked Little Countdown with @jennshurkus and @charimoss. We made these Halloween advent tags. I learned soooo many new techniques and am obsessed with their designs. I still can’t believe I made these and will cherish them for years to come. 🎃👻💗

I’m so grateful for @lawnfawn and @ranger_ink for supporting the event. I’m in love with the whole kit and event. If you’re having FOMO, I believe there are still kits available at shurkus.com.

Which tag is your favorite? I think mine is #26, but it’s hard to pick just one.

Happy World Cardmaking Day! I signed up for three cardmaking events this weekend. 😍 This hobby makes me so happy.

The first event was with @thestampmarket. I never miss Amy’s events! These cards were so fun to make and I can’t wait to make more with the kit.

Lately, I’ve been making cards for a local nonprofit that helps women in difficult situations. These cards will be so perfect for them. 💗

Here is my take on days one and two for #heroween. I was inspired by @sherigilson’s amazing card. Since the ghost captured the bat, I wanted it to look like the kitty is hiding. 🤣

I used @teamspellbinders cardstock with glitz ink from @heroarts. I also used black, sparkle and gold splatter, and tulle from my stash.

I love this card so much. I used the new Clare de Lune Bloom die from @thestamp_market with a stamp set from a prior event. For the flower, I used @ranger_ink distress watercolor pencils with techniques I learned from @jennshurkus. For the border, I used #thestampmarket’s blush dye oxide ink. Gah! This set from @prettypinkposh in July’s #letsstamptogether kit with @sctmagazine is so perfect! I love it so much. I paired it with a Pretty Pink Posh sentiment from the last Crop & Create. For this card, I was inspired by a hummingbird card by @carlyteeminner on the #prettypinkposh website. Happy Sunday! I’m finished with this quarter’s cards for @dearjackfoundation. There are 30 total. I made them with products from @lawnfawn @catherinepooler @sctmagazine @tayloredexpressions @concordand9th @scrapbookcom @simonsaysstamp and @heroarts.

12 years. It has gone by incredibly fast! These are some of my favorite pictures of our wedding.

The day was beautiful! I’m still blown away that some of my family and friends flew from the opposite coast to attend. And, of course, our local friends and family too… it was what puts the “special” in our special day.

My MBA is in Sustainable Business, so we made conscious choices with our vendors and purchases whenever possible. We hired a florist who used locally grown flowers. Our caterer has a rooftop garden and grows food sustainably. Most of our items were rented. While imperfect, we tried to do our part as much as possible.

During the ceremony, we played, “My Own Two Hands” by Jack Johnson and Ben Harper. It starts out by saying, “I can change the world, with my own two hands” and ends by saying, “with our own two hands”. It was perfect! (It’s such a beautiful song if you haven’t heard it.)

For the favors, I hand painted little birdhouses that we attached to the place cards. I’ve always loved crafty things, but I had no idea about this world of cardmaking back then… otherwise, I probably would’ve made our invitations too. 🤣

I like to keep much of my personal life private these days, including people. So, I’ll leave it there. Here’s to the next 12! 💗 by @melissapipercreates
