A little late, but some moments are simply too meaningful not to share. ❤️

This is my beautiful mother during the Suriname exhibition at the Nieuwe Kerk in Amsterdam.

By then, she was living with Alzheimer's disease. Yet something extraordinary happened. She performed a monologue from a theatre production she had done more than 20 years earlier, completely from memory.

Alzheimer's had taken so much from her, but not her love for the stage. In that moment, her artist's heart remembered every word.

This year was the first time I celebrated Keti Koti without her. Mum lived at Dappermarkt, near the Slavery Monument. It wasn't easy. I missed her more than words can say.... 🥹

Sharing this video is my way of honoring her—her strength, her talent, and the beautiful legacy she left behind.

Forever proud. Forever your daughter. Forever my SuperStar 💖

Mijn SuperStar 💖

Tonight I’ve been invited to speak at
@dialogueforspace: Arts & Creativity in Space 🚀
A European platform where art, creativity and innovation come together to explore new perspectives on our world and beyond.

I’ll be sharing a deeply personal story…
about my journey as an artist,
and the experience of caring for my mother with Alzheimer’s 💛

A story about love, loss, and finding strength
even in the most difficult moments

I will close this talk with a song
that has been with me since I was 16

✨ The greatest love of all…
is learning to love yourself 🥰

Bob Marley Tribute 2025 with @tuffsoundband in Patronaat. Thanks guys 😊

Beautiful pictures by: @manfromdam

Last year on a Friday afternoon I was chilling on the couch, scrolling online. Minding my business.... 😎😅 Then I got an emergency phone call! @vanessamarciamusic asked me to sing backings last minute for the Bob Marley Tribute show in @patronaathaerlem by @reggae_movement
One of the backing vocalist was sick.... she couldn't perform.

It was Friday 2 pm. Soundcheck was saturday 2 pm! 🤭😭
24 hours, 7 artists all sing 3 songs, 23 songs total 😅 My head was spinning, I had to make a very quick decision. Of course I said yes! It was a challenge and I loved it. I worked soooo freakin hard that night. Also highlighting all my lyrics blue on the tablet. Like a secretary 😅 I knew a lot of the songs. But some songs where a total surprise.
Is that Bob? 😁

I only slept 4 hours, I didn't look cute at all. But I did it. I wasn't able to take tram, train to Haarlem so I took a taxi! Invested in myself. I couldn't walk anymore 😅 And we had a great show. Of course with the lyrics on my tablet. I was afraid to mix up the lyrics, it was too much for my head. 🤣 What a show.

I was so happy and proud of myself. 🥰
So professional.
A show in 24 hours 💪🏾🎙🥰
Call me! Send me a ticket! I'm here 😅😁

I wil never forget this amazing experience....
I feel blessed 🙏🏾❤️💛💚

(So sorry I don't have more videos... )

Soewana, gonna miss you so much 😓🙏🏾🕊

On Wednesday, I received the news that my sister-in-law, the wife of my oldest brother @ricardolabort had passed away.
On Thursday, I performed on stage. The show must go on.... like my Momager Loes always said.

My heart was heavy, but I chose to sing.
Music is how I express what I cannot put into words. That night, my voice became a prayer. My voice carried my grief, my love, and my strength.

I sang for my two angels in heaven. Mom and Soewana. I felt guided, protected, and held. They loved each other, they are now together. Giggling, dancing and having fun.

Soewana was a beautiful, loving woman.
Always welcoming, always smiling, always cooking the most delicious food for us.
I loved her deeply, and she will forever hold a very special place in my heart.

Beneath it all, another quiet sadness asked to be released.... 😓 And music made space for that too.

I am grateful for the strength that carried me. For music, for love, and for all that remains.
Love never dies 🤍✨
