One afternoon in August 2023, I was in my parents’ living room, still in my PJs. I hadn’t even brushed my teeth yet. My life was falling apart, I had no future and, -in my mind- nothing to offer the world. I went to the out-of-tune upright piano in the corner and started playing what I thought my emotions sounded like. I was alone. I had no idea how important that moment was at the time.

I know everything about this song, including my relationship with it, has become somewhat controversial. But I love Swaydif dearly. Which is why I’m so critical and protective over what happens to it. It was all I had at one point. The tour is over now and it’s hard to believe a song that let me cope with my life has done the same for so many people. A few of the nights on this tour, like the one in this video, performing it helped me feel connected to it again. When the crowd seemed to care as much as I did. Like it was important again. Like it wasn’t a trend. More posts about the tour will follow. But I needed to get this out. Thank you to everyone who helped my emotions hemorrhage on stage. - Danny
