Some dreams take years to come true. You may have a wish, but there are perhaps still many things missing before you can make it a reality. I’ve learnt to be patient and to trust that everything will happen in its own time. The time has come to have formed a wonderful friendship. Annabel is just as drawn to the sea as I am and more. She introduced me to the whale-watching team @azoresexperiences and we set out to sea together. On the second morning’s tour, we witnessed a sunrise that made nature glow in its most vibrant colours. We heard the sounds of the sperm whales and even spotted a calf. We waited for THAT moment when the whales’ fins are sighted, which is when they are catalogued. Because it’s not just about spotting and observing – the scientific work going on in the background is also part of the team’s role. It’s incredibly exciting and has made me very keen to find out more.
As well as the whales, we marvelled at the lively spotted dolphins and bottlenose dolphins, which put on a show for us right next to the boat.
I’m absolutely grateful to have been able to experience all of this!

Haha, and by the way, it’s not at all easy taking photos with two big cameras on a bumpy boat that feels like a three-hour horse ride. But I love challenges like that!

There’s more to show and tell, but that’s the first impression.

So happy to have @lauracabz in front of my camera again. This time, we had planned two shoots, each going in a slightly different direction.
When we started the second one, we were unexpectedly offered this beautiful location, which completely changed the flow of the shoot. Everything became spontaneous. I walked through the space, taking in the different backgrounds, colours, textures and little details, and looking for elements that could bring everything together and, most importantly, make Laura feel completely comfortable in her role.

Every week I go to this beach, and sometimes it all feels so familiar and I just get on with my work. But this morning, even as I was on my way there, I could sense that there was something special in the air. Perhaps it’s late summer already, bringing those beautiful colours, making the air smell fresher and bringing a special sense of calm. taken in Portugal by @mellemsea

The other day, I designed and had a photo book printed for a friend. I think we have waaaay too few printed photos these days, and those precious moments are just hidden away in some device or another. Yeah, it’s a ton of work to dig out the pictures, select them, and arrange them into some kind of storyline to create an overall concept for the book, BUT in the end, it’s just so worth it! Unfortunately, I don’t do it often enough myself, but it’s a start.
