✨ a look at an old sketchbook💜

Wanted to share some pages from an old sketchbook I never finished. Might need to pick it back up 🫶💕 there are way too many blank pages. But it feels a bit odd for everything else to be dated from a year or more ago. I’m sure ill get over it.

At the time I really enjoyed bringing it with me to work and classes to doodle on occasion. It was a nice outlet for me.

I’ve always struggled with consistently filling a sketchbook. I feel like I’ll have short bursts where I’ll draw multiple pages in a day for a week or so and then it falls off very quickly. Oops!

I really enjoyed sketching with these colored mechanical pencils. They were so fun! I’ll have to pull them out again to use more often. 💅

✨August photo dump!! ✨

What an amazing, beautiful, and fun end to the summer. 💚

The month was busy and there were some challenges I faced but overall I’m thankful for the small community I have. ☀️

I got to learn a new hobby! Alpha keychains/patterns are incredible and I’m so excited to explore them more. Can’t wait to share more of the process of this Totoro keychain soon. 🌱

I also channeled my inner child and got to try shrinky dinks for the first time ever! What a wonderful, whimsical experience gathered around the table, paint markers strewn about, listening to Olivia Rodrigo with my bestie and my partner. Then crowding around the oven to watch the dinks shrink! So exhilarating! Though there were a few casualties, they all turned out so much better than I expected. 💖

I LOVE going to painted pottery studios. So fun! 🤩 my best friend and I got to make our take on the viral “ face mug “ trend. It was well worth it. $30 each and a few hours was incredible. We got so lucky that we were able to pick up the finished pieces before the end of her trip. 💅

Of course we had to indulge and buy some Smiskis!! I love them so much. We both bought two which was the best because somehow I pulled not one, but two sets of triplets?? Insane!!! I was flabbergasted it was exhilarating! 💚

I learned how to play Magic the Gathering for the first time! S/o to my partner who bought me a pre-con. It’s very intimidating but I’m hooked now! ✨

Here’s to a wonderful September and the lead up to autumn weather! 🍂🎃🧡

Needle felted Kirby!!💖

When was the last time you went on a little side quest?

Well here was a side quest I went on a few weeks ago. My girlfriend and I attended our second needle felting class hosted at a local cafe. It was so fun! But the best part was watching my partner enjoy a new hobby. I don’t see myself buying the supplies to make my own needle felted cuties BUT doing these classes with my partner has been amazing. I love getting to explore new mediums and the price for the class was unmatched! I am also a huge Kirby fan and have a ton of little blind box figures at home so my little needle felted Kirby fits right in.

Now here is a fun story I can share about Kirby! Kirby is actually the reason my partner and I started dating.. LET ME EXPLAIN.

Our freshman year of college after I had just moved to Portland from out of state, I knew NO ONE. Then one day my now girlfriend saw a Kirby hand sanitizer holder on my backpack. She said something along the lines of “ oh that’s cute!” to me. Me being the awkward person I was at the time ( and still am) was really flustered by this encounter. 😅
Later on we started seeing eachother more around campus and at events. We ended up living in the same dorm building, on the same floor. During this time I would send her wholesome Kirby memes as a way to build friendship. She started sending them to me as well and eventually we started dating. Now we have been together for almost 5 years and she still sends me anything Kirby related that she sees, buys me blindbox figures, and recently bought me a Kirby amiibo that was on clearance for $15.

Things that brought me joy recently 🫶

Trying to find joy in the little and big moments.

I recently deep cleaned my desk. I typically keep it relatively tidy but it was in desperate need of a deep clean and reorganization. It felt so refreshing!

There is a small business in my area that makes vegan softserve that is to die for. Recently they did SpongeBob themed specials that were so much fun.

I went to the farmers market a few weeks back where I saw several cute potted plants at a particular stand. This one stuck out to me the most and I would have bought it if I was going home right after.

I’ve enjoyed making progress on my cross stitch pet portrait of my family dog Tank. I’m at about 80% which feels amazing!

Looking forward to sharing more joyful moments in the future.

New hobby unlocked!

Recently I learned how to make the trending ( ish) alpha keychains! This was a fun learning experience and I am looking forward to making more in the future!
I originally picked a pattern that was way more advanced for my first piece which was a disaster 😂. I attempted it three times before picking an easier one to make. For context the initial pattern I picked was 25x32. Oops!!

I will be sharing the final piece soon!! 💚

One of my side quests a few weeks ago took me to a magical place where I got to learn a fun new fiber art!

This needle felting brush buddy class was incredible. Though I am very inexperienced with needle felting I felt like I did pretty good for my first time. 💅✨
My partner has been interested in needle felting for a while and has a bit more of a knack for it than me. I still had a wonderful time of course! I did stab my finger… BUT I prevailed 😆.

If you are looking for an affordable, fun, engaging class I definitely recommend checking out the classes that @drakesdenpdx teaches as well as their needle felting kits. They are all so cute!🥰

My cross stitch birdie photo holder is complete!! 🩵

I am so so so happy with how this turned out. Even though I’ve been working on cross stitch projects for over a year this is the first one I’ve officially finished 🫢. But here’s to many more!!

This perfectly fits a 4x6 inch photo horizontally and I love it! I was able to gift this to my grandma for her birthday a few weeks ago and she adores it.

I hope to make more cross stitch pieces like this in the future as it was super fun. I really like the idea of photo holders like this so I am cooking up some fun patterns to make more!

My summer so far as a creative ✨🫶

How has your summer been?? I’ve been having a blast!

Despite my intense heat intolerance I am surviving the record breaking heat. I’ve gotten to do so much fun stuff and we’re only halfway through the season. Looking forward to sharing more soon.

I got to go to the coast with a bunch of my friends. I’ve gotten to work on a lot of fun projects. I’ve eaten lots of yummy food. Indulged in lots of dairy free soft serve. Had several fruity iced teas. I love all the side quests I’ve been going on. 💖😋💅

Is it bad that I’m already thinking of autumn? 🍁🍃

🩵Progress update on my little birdie photo holder 🩵

I am so close to finishing this piece and am very excited. I’m hoping to buy some top loaders so that the photo will be “ protected” if the recipient decides to keep the piece in the hoop. This will be my first fully finished piece surprisingly. I am hoping to finish more soon haha. I get close to finished so I get prepared to start a new project. Next finished piece will hopefully be a pet portrait I’ve been working on. 🐶👀

I would like to buy some felt as well as I’d like to do a pretty backing for the piece as well. ✨🫶 I’ve been watching lots of videos of other artists doing a nice , neat backing for their embroidered/cross stitch pieces that stay in the hoop.

Can’t wait to share the finished piece!

Little Birdie photo holder🩵

This is a project I started earlier in the spring that I hadn’t yet posted. I completely forgot to share it!!

It took me a while to figure out the photo proportions relative to the Aida but once I did I felt SO smart haha. 😆 I want to make more of these in the future. So far it’s been one of my favorite projects but I feel that way about all of them.

This is going to be a gift and I can’t wait to finish. 💖

• working on a new project- my cross stitch soot sprite bookmark Yipee! I’m so happy with the progress I am making on this piece and can’t wait to share more. 🖤

•taking pretty pictures of nature - nature is abundant where I live so I’m always in awe of what’s around me. I have so many lovely photos of greenery, flowers, and other nature that always fills my camera roll with beauty. 💚

• wearing my cute bandana - I love this bandana so much!! I’m so glad I bought it from 📍Happy Hues in Seattle WA. This is my first bandana and I’m obsessed! Love wearing it to protect my scalp, when my hairs a little oily or just to feel pretty. 💅💖

•pet sitting my cutie regulars - I love all of my pet sitting clients. The pets are such sweethearts and always bring joy to my life while I care for them. It’s very rewarding even if it can feel tough to be away from home sometimes. 🐶

• went to an art market - I recently went to an art market at 📍Forager Vintage in Beaverton, OR and oh my god!! I’m so glad that I went. The artists were all so nice and friendly. I went to push myself out of my comfort zone and to challenge my social anxiety. There were few moments where my brain tried to talk me out of it. I’m so glad that I went!! I got to purchase lots of great artwork and got a few gifts for myself, a friend, and my girlfriend. 🥰

Progress update! ✨🖤

A progress update fresh off the press! So far I have learned a lot with this project. I’ve reinforced for myself the importance of test stitching…

Let me explain. 🤣

The actual color of your floss can vary greatly than the color shown on the pattern itself. Even when comparing the colors before stitching I sometimes have a hard time envisioning what it will actually look like once stitched. While working on this I learned that the “darker” green I picked for the candy/border was waaaay darker than I wanted it to be. I was going for a lighter , more pastel vibe. Given this I pivoted to using the lighter green as the new dark green. Had to rummage through the floss I did have to find a replacement for the light green. I think it works sooo much better. 💚✨
